Mesón Galicia is a gem of a local spot! The homemade food is absolutely delicious, and the service is fantastic. Vane and Jose are wonderfully friendly and always happy to share their knowledge about Ourense, including great tips on where to visit. Food: slightly salty. Came for the menu of the day (menu del dia) but it's only available after 1pm, so I got tapas instead. They also gave me free tortes(?) as appts.

Service: the best I've had in Ourense. Waitress (owner?) is patient and kind, and did her best to explain things in English.

Atmosphere: full of locals. Unfortunately the road construction and people smoking outside...

I stopped here for lunch from the recommendation of the security guard at the train station while waiting on my train. The staff were really friendly and attentive, the food was great, specially the octopus and really reasonable price. I'd definitely come back for a meal while...
