We visited Costa Brava in July a few weeks after all of Spain moved to the “new normal.” During the trip, we were still somewhat reluctant to visit restaurants, but we visited 3. We are a family of 4 with two 7 year old daughters. This restaurant fell far below any reasonable expectation. When we made the reservation, they were quick to point out that we had to vacate the table by 10PM. This was fine as our reservation was at 8PM and children are exhausted long before then. I was surprised though that they mentioned this to our kids when they were deciding what to order (I guess they were taking longer to decide than they liked). Keep in mind though that we were done by 9:30 so not sure why they brought anything up. I did not focus much on this and my poor review if based on the food. We made a reservation because of the positive reviews, but the food was so average. Of the 3 places we visited during this trip, this place was by far the worst. We ordered steak and fish and while the steak was fine, they did not use any seasoning whatsoever on the fish. (not even salt or pepper). We asked for lemon which helped a bit. Also, the kids did not eat any of the “French fries” that came with their steak. The kids also did not eat the dessert. I would not be back and the experience was very...
Read moreIn a place full of quality restaurants Chez Tomas stands out, it does not occupy that prime real estate down on the sea front so maybe it has to try that little bit harder and it succeeds by the bucket load. The courtyard is exquisite, the staff are great and the main man whose name ( I just asked him because we went again it’s “Jesus”) I never caught speaks fantastic English, not that matters because we came for the food not chit chat. I don’t know if it was value for money but no one had a sharp intake of breath when the cuenta was presented. The menu offers small plates and regular size ones we were advised that small was ample for the starters and I am so glad I had a small tagliatelle and prawn one (it was huge, the size of a small donkey.) So in closing this long winded review I will just add that should we return to Llafranc Chez Tomas will be top of the list.( we did two days later) still fantastic, you may...
Read moreHad an absolutely incredible meal here. We shared a selection of starters and they were all really excellent. The standouts were the patatas bravas and the prawn and seafood croquettes. For mains we shared a freshly caught fish of the day (bream) and it was to die for - perfectly cooked and seasoned, just delicious. We also had a side of their home made fries, which were also outstanding. By that stage we were all very full, but we had to try the desserts and I’m very glad we did because, just like all the other food we had, they were amazing. The apple pie is always my go-to dessert, it’s one of my favourite foods to eat on the Costa Brava, and this one was hands-down the best I’ve ever tasted. To add to all that, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful evening here and will...
