The whole experience was a total disappointment. I traveled specifically to eat at this place because of the high rates and the nice view. I asked if they have an alcohol free beer and they said yes. Roughly 20 min went by, no sign of that beer I ordered, I had to ask again. After half an hour, the waitress came back and said they don't have alcohol free beer. I asked for another beer (with alcohol) and hoped to have it soon, as plates of tapas started to be served to us and my friend already got her wine after few minutes and was waiting for me. 45 min passed, still no drink. This is while the same waitress was entertaining a group of Spanish speaking customers talking about the history of the town, and explaining the wine varieties they have at the restaurant. She was also serving other tables. I started to get pretty annoyed as the food we ordered was getting cold, an no sign of that drink. I asked the waitress again to get me a beer of any kind. Nothing happened. In the end my friend took matters into hands and went to talk to the waitress who confessed they had some problem with the quantity of beers they have??! Why didn't she say this from the beginning so I could order something else? I lost my appetite as I got very annoyed by the nonchalance and the lack of communication. One hour into our meal, she came with a gluten free tasteless beer. Disgusting. This has by far been my worst restaurant experience in Spain. As a customer you shouldn't be expecting such treatment in a such highly rated expensive dining place with so many good reviews. Has she or anyone else for that matter informed me that they may have issue with beer orders I could have easily accommodated and asked for something else! That would have been better than ruining a whole dining experience in such a nice town. When it comes to food, their patatas blavas was of a cheap pub quality - not the sort you'd expect at such a place. Their pan con tomate was mediocre, I tasted far better alternatives at much cheaper and less hyped restaurants. The fried squids were of a pretty good quality, the sea bream plate was also good, but again, without a proper drink, the dishes had no soul. Overall it felt like non Spanish speaking customers get a real second class citizen treatment at this place, as all the focus was given to the locals. Which is ok, but I wish we knew about this before we went there to...
Read moreLa Blava in Catalonia is an absolute gem! We had the pleasure of dining right by the sea, and the experience was nothing short of magical. The seafood was incredibly fresh, tasty and skill-fully prepared. The serene seaside setting added an extra layer of charm, making it the perfect spot for a meal whether a couple or a family. The staff were welcoming and kindly set us up on a table outside even though there was only space for 2 people when we arrived, they made space for us. The inside of the restaurant is quirky. We forgot to take photos of the starters - we did the sea bass ceviche with yuzu, patatas bravas and fried calamari which were delicious. For mains we did the turbot with celeriac purée, grilled octopus and the arroz meloso. Dessert, the carrot cake & chocolate cake were great. If coming in a busy period I would suggest reserving in advance to avoid disappointment. I highly recommend for anyone...
Read moreRestaurant la Blava matches the picture of a little Mediterranean restaurant by a beautiful beach and village. The setting is amazing to enjoy an evening with your loved ones. Menu is short but full of good executed dishes and fresh ingredients. The rice is really tasty and some of the starters are very good. The desert section is where they excel like the homemade one with the grandmother recipe. Overall enjoyable experience in this tiny and cute restaurant. However, the reason not to score 5 is the service. You can notice very soon that they are not professional and and also due to popularity the staff don’t make an effort for making your experience better. They charged us extra, we were unattended for a long period of time while the staff were chatting and joking with some other customers. It felt no professional and left a bit of bitterness. If they improve that they will be...
