Makao — Restaurant in Palafrugell

This was exquisite! Congrats to the owners! 👏 Food was excellent - one of the best sushi we've had (similar if not better than some of the ones we had in Japan)

There is careful attention to detail, and that makes the whole experience even better.

The setting of the restaurant is modern, clean, and very comfortable.

Servers were engaged, attentive, and friendly - tip: let them surprise you with a blind menu where they choose some of the dishes for you.

Points of improvement:

the beef in the yakisoba could have been a bit more tender good to offer ginger and Wasabi when someone orders sushi ideal if the Wasabi would be the real one (maybe have an option where clients can pay extra for the real one but offer it in your menu) for a Japanese style place, it would be great to have a bigger variety of loose leaf tea (white, green, black)

I went to Makao this week and it was a great experience! There was so much choice on the menu. The vibe was super nice, with a cozy and chill interior that made it really enjoyable.

The portion sizes were huge and so flavorful, it was delicious and fresh. It also looked really appetizing on the plate! The servers were super friendly and the service was quick, so we didn’t have to wait long for anything.

I rarely give 5 stars but our dinner last night deserves it. This is a now enlarged version of the popular sushi bar called Kao in Palafrugell ( that is now L'apéro). Makao is housed in a delightfully zen interior a road behind its former self. There are 2 menus, one distinctly Japanese, the other fusion tapas. We stuck to the Japanese version & everything was truly delicious. The dumplings were fantastic.

We were 5 & ordered a large variety of dishes to share, wine & other drinks. With a generous tip, my portion of the bill came to €30.
