Another restaurant we go to every year, and our trip in late September was as enjoyable as usual. This has always seemed to us as a slightly more upmarket and calmer version of Can Pedro up the road. For me as a vegetarian the menu is always extremely limited, there only one or two things that I can order like Roquefort Salad and Tumbet. They make a meal out of the Roqufeort salad, with large pieces of sliced Roquefort cheese (not the cheaper runny sauce they use at other restaurants), big pieces of walnut and very fresh salad leaves etc. The Tumbet is the best on the island that I have come across in a restaurant, soft, rich and silky. We tried the Spinach Croquettes, and my partner the ham ones. Both portions were enormous, delcious and made for sharing. They don't serve house wine by the half bottle/caraffe, but they will bring a bottle to the table and let you drink only half. Although we were billed 10 euros for that and the house rose cost the same, so at 20 euros a bottle that is more than some of their other wines on the menu by the bottle...It was a nice wine though so no complaints, other than price. Service was great with our first waiter, then he swapped over to another waiter who had to be asked all the time for everything...including for the bill twice..They serve beef on hot plates, which filled the whole balcony with smoke, they have extractors but weren't using them, so the people at the table opened the canopy themselves top get some air in. Mentioned because this happens every visit, and a nice atmosphere gets ruined by lack of ventilation. Locals are probably used to it and don't...
Read moreWe have to take a cab to Casa Jacinto since it's in a different area than our hotel. The cab dropped us off at the bottom of the restaurant and it was a small slope and a flat of stairs to get to the dining area. The restaurant was beautiful from the outside with ivies around the windows. We were greeted right away and glad we had a reservation. Seated and we ordered a bottle of still water for the table (€2) my friend ordered a white wine and she loved it. We shared a Padron peppers (which is identical to shishito peppers in US) it was cooked perfect without char and some olive oil and fleur de sal. We ordered Salmon with Champagne sauce and Basque style Hake (green sauce) both fish dishes were flavorful. My Hake comes in a sauce and I wish I had room in my stomach for extra bread/rice... the sauce was creamy but light and just delicious. It went well with the Hake, an egg, potato, white asparagus and a couple mussels. The atmosphere was tranquil and just beautiful. We got a table by the window and we were there when sun started setting. Amazing...
Read moreWhile on vacation in Palma de Mallorca with my husband, we had dinner at Casa Jacinto. The welcome was quite good, and the first of the 5 or 6 waiters who served us was excellent at promoting the menu, leading us to order a lot of food. My husband ordered a medium-rare steak, but as the waiter mentioned, it was "more rare" than expected. Despite sending it back, it was still rare when returned. I ordered the fish, or bacalhau, which was overly salted and inedible. No one asked why I wasn't eating, indicating a lack of customer service and concern. The red wine tasted like vinegar, adding to the disappointment. The restaurant seemed like a tourist trap. Despite the nice view outside, we stayed inside as table were not available outside. The other guests were ordering “cook it yourself meats” and there was lots of smoke inside. Looks like they are focused on making money instead of creating nice memories for tourists...
