We recently visited El Patio with high hopes of indulging in a delightful dining experience, particularly looking forward to savouring their renowned paella. Unfortunately, my visit turned into a disappointment when the restaurant failed to bring our mains due to a major oversight in their kitchen.
Upon our arrival, we (4 people) ordered drinks, starters, and Mains. Starters came around, and they tasted wonderful. However, as time passed, it became apparent that something was going wrong with our mains.
We patiently waited for our food, engaging in conversation. However, as the minutes turned into an hour, we grew increasingly concerned about the delay. We inquired about the status of our mains, only to be met with apologies and an explanation that the kitchen staff had forgotten to cook the paella.
The disappointment was palpable, as our expectations for the highlight of our meal were dashed. Although mistakes can happen, especially in busy establishments, the way this situation was handled left much to be desired. Instead of proactively informing us about the issue and offering alternatives, we were left waiting and wondering, our hunger growing.
Eventually, the staff offered their apologies and proposed a couple of alternative dishes. However, the damage had already been done, and our appetite and excitement had diminished significantly, not to mention that the restaurant was closing down in like 40 minutes so their alternatives proposals would not have actually worked.
Furthermore, the lack of communication and transparency from the restaurant's management added to our disappointment.
While I understand that mistakes can occur, it is the response to these mishaps that truly defines a restaurant's commitment to customer satisfaction. Regrettably, in this case, El Patio fell short of our expectations, leaving us with a lingering sense of dissatisfaction.
Ultimately, due to the disappointment caused by the forgotten paella and the subsequent handling of the situation, I can not recommend this place at...
Read moreHad a lovely meal here, we both had burgers. My partner had the classic beef burger and I had the chef's special 'pulled pork burger'. No issues with the food.
The issues comes with the service. We arrived and were allowed to choose our table. We chose one in the back. The waiter (I think he may have been a manager actually) gave us menus and quickly took our drinks order. Amazing Sangria by the way.
Ten minutes or so rolled by, and we tried to get the guy's attention, ready to order. It eventually took 15 minutes for him to come over to us with a comment of 'hey guys, I almost forgot about you'. We put our food order in quickly.
The food comes out 15 minutes later, which again, was good. The low rating is simply because of the service from the managers (plural, yes). We had a lovely waiter who spoke Spanish with us (my partner is a native Spanish speaker) and had a lovely conversation with us in Spanish. He was great. So overall, food 9/10, service 3/10.
Fast forward to the next day, despite the bad service, we were eager to return, expecting it to be a one off. We arrived at the restaurant quite late, expecting the kitchen to be closed but maybe we could get a drink. Another guy (presumably a manager) spoke to us. We asked him about the kitchen and he explained that it was closed in Spanish. We understood, and then my partner asked if the bar was still open for drinks in Spanish, and the manager repeated sarcastically that the kitchen was closed, again, in Spanish. Then proceeded to say 'there are loads of little bars around this area'. Overall, I don't think we'll be returning because of the attitude of some of the staff. Kudos to the lovely gentleman who spoke to us in...
Read moreWent here for a spontaneous Friday night dinner. Luckily gave them a quick call in advance to be able to still get a table for our part size. They have two different big outdoor sections to differentiate smoking and non-smoking areas. All mainly sheltered still.
Nice menu with vide variation suitable for any kind of cravings. Service could have been better (we were not asked whether we wanted any more drinks after the first round of drinks) - might be a result of the location size and the distribution of tables/areas.
Food though was very much on point. We ordered two meat dishes and two different pizzas. My dish, being the Surf and Turf, was really great. Meat not only of great quality but cooked to perfection. I even was lucky enough to get one prawn more than advertised (but on the other hand I never got my ordered aioli but due to lacking service I also couldn't query it). The amazing taste of the meat and prawns on their own did in fact not even need any sauces though. Our table also had an antipasti platter. I only tasted a few things but these were very good. Presentation was a bit lacking and the different things were stacked on each other. So there's room for improvement here.
I also had a couple of pizza slices and these were very decent, as well. My dish was accompanied by a mocktail which was of great quality and a nice size for the price (being served in a great looking cup).
As for the food I would always come back. I think it is very suitable for bigger party sizes as the menu is suitable for nearly any food preference. Room for improvement when it comes to the service for...
