One of the worst gastronomic experiences ever! (In fact, THE WORST! Not even 1 star is worth it.)
Horrible treatment from a woman who seems like a manager. After about 30 min of waiting outside (a kind waitress told us, if wanted, to take a walk and come back in a half an hr as some tables would be available) and 15 min inside (as it wasn´t ready), we finally sat on the table. Until then, we were happy and very excited that we were about to order some nice food and wine including some chuletillas de lechazo.
However, a woman (looks like a manager or can be an owner) came to take an order and said we should order 1/4 of lechazo because it's normal to order it there. We said we didnt want the lechazo and we want to order something else on the menu. (we had the lechazo the night before.) She gave us really nasty look for some long moment and walked away without saying anything while we were in the middle of ordering food. We were shocked for what just happened while we were holding the menu and not knowing what's going on. Then after long awkward waiting, she finally came back saying she let us in and gave us a table since she thought we were going to order lechazo. We told her this was never explained to us before. She repeated that it's normal to order lechazo there. When we said that we didn´t wait it, she finally said she would serve chuletillas instead of lechazo, as if that´s not on the menu and she's giving us a favor. (again with such a nasty look and horrible body gesture) (Lady, if you don´t want to sell other than lechazo, take them out from the MENU!)
We couldn't continue order the menu as we were so upset. We were treated like annoying and stupid tourists. Her behaviour (and the look) is something that I've never experienced not only in the restaurants, but anywhere else. We didnt want to spend any second in that place. Just so furious how we were treated....
It doesn't matter how good their food can be. (although we didn´t get to try any.) A place is not worth to consider going while that kind of person is managing the place. Such a pity that this kind of ppl damaging the image of entire place as that memory would stick with me whenever I remember Peñafiel. (Don´t get me wrong, I love this area, home of Ribera del Duero wine, and I have really nice experiences in some great restaurants.)
This place was recommended by the hotel, I would definitely report back to the hotel our horrible experience, they should never recommend this place to their guests!
(I have written this post 4 yrs ago with so much anger, so I´ve edited to make more sense of my review.) I hope this place is a better place than before, although I wouldn´t...
Read moreThe only place that I have eaten lamb in peñafiel we had been given a gift pack where the menu was included with a wine tour of the protos wine bodega. Absolutely fantastic just round the corner from the wine tour, the walk was ideal as it cleared our heads from the wine tasting. Very typical restaurant nice staff and the food was plenty as a gift menu there was more than expected. Only one thing the wine was a small bottle not the normal size. Desserts were just delicious. The place is at the...
Os...
