A perfect small hotel in the heart of Peñiscola. We booked this hotel as a last minute option as we wanted to explore Peñiscola more after falling in love with the place on our first visit. ||||We stayed with our two boys age 16 and 9 years old. Initially, I booked a small room but upon getting there we were told that the room I have chosen was far too small for us. Luckily, they had another family room available which consisted of a double bed and a small kitchen. It also had a separate room with two single beds perfect for the boys. Our rooms had a balcony which was a nice bonus.||||The hotel is situated by the castle so not so ideal if you have difficulty with stairs or walking. It is also near a church and the main streets, so you can hear cars, people and the church bell ringing. But we didn't mind so much. It adds to the character of the place.||||We love this hotel as it's very near all the points of interest and within walking distance of the centre. It is spotlessly clean and well managed. I even asked for an iron which they provided without any problems. I've stayed in many hotels before and this can usually be a problem or they will charge you for the pleasure. But the staff was more than accommodating and anything is no trouble for them. ||||Parking can be a pain though, there is parking on the dock but it's a good 10-minute walk back to the hotel. If you cannot find a free parking space, then your best bet is to pay 16euros a day on the blue bay areas.||||We had an enjoyable time at Pension Chiki it's a great place to stay while you explore the amazing town of Peñiscola. I definitely recommend it and no doubt we will be...

Read moreTook a bit of effort to find but worth the trouble. Lost luggage delayed our arrival and no cell phone connection left us directionless. When we finally found the place, there was a sign on the door to phone and the owner would be there in 5 minutes. We had to find a friendly bartender to phone for us, but the owner did show up in 5 minutes and seemed genuinely sorry that our trip had not started off well. He went out of his way to help carry bags to our room and offered tea and anything else we wanted to help settle us in. Hotel rooms are above the restaurant and there are a lot of stairs. Plus the easiest parking is at the dock which is a 10 minute walk (uphill to the hotel). The hotel is a well renovated ancient building in the old town. Rooms are very clean and small. WiFi is good and so is TV, not that you would want to waste much time in your room. Hotel is right in the middle of old town. Our room overlooked the clock tower and was right under the castle. Couldn't ask for a better location. Restaurant was closed for the season but the breakfast/lunch bar was open and had great coffee and toast. Price was very reasonable. Can't imagine staying anywhere else...
