Restaurante Casa Araez — Restaurant in Pilar de la Horadada

We had high expectations of this restaurant but were disappointed. Most reviews have been positive and initially things looked good. The interior is modern and inviting and our starters arrived promptly, but we had to wait nearly 2 hours for our main course to arrive and then it only appeared once we had asked the waiter what had happened to our food. When the food did arrive two of the dishes were cold. We sent them back and they arrived again after five minutes lukewarm. This is NOT how a kitchen of this calibre should operate. At that point we decided not to bother anymore and left. A pity really because I believe this place has potential but they really dropped the ball in this instance. We got an apology from the waiter, but no rebate on our bill. Had we been a little less forgiving we should have refused to pay for the food as it was not up to scratch. I have been to Casa Araez with family and friends 6times in the last 5 months that I have been living in campoverde. This little restaurant in the back streets of pilar dela horadada is in a class of its own. This is fine dining at the very best, it is well worthy of a Michelin star 🌟 or a blue ribbon at the top end. I can not recommend this restaurant to anyone as I don't want everyone to find out about it so I can not book a table. The food and wine are at the top end but well worth the price. This little gem is a place to go for a birthday or that special occasion. Thay also do a bluddy Mary to die for. Please give this place a try if you are in pillar or on a last night treat, like me you will not be disappointed and will be booking your next night out before you leave. Reservation for dinner at 8PM. Arrived on time, taking order at 8.10PM .... and then you wait without explanation for 1h10, the starter arrived at 9.20 PM, a simple octopus... then at 9.40PM the main course ....and then nothing... after the main course, no menu for a dessert, not proposed,... and you wait more than 30 minutes at your table. We decided to leave at 10.30PM despited. It was more than 30 times we came here and we were not alone in this situation tonight. They take reservation without capacity to deliver a service, it is a real overbooking. They loose a lot of customers this evening of September...
