A return visit to Mount Everest for their wonderful menu del dia. Whilst the restaurant lacks a little atmosphere at lunchtime, the welcome, quality of the food, cleanliness, hospitality and prices more than make up for this. We ordered 3 menu del dias. This includes a drink (beer, wine or soft drink), poppadoms and dips, a starter, a main curry with rice or naan and a choice of either coffee, tea or icecream. All for €9.95 from 12.30 - 14.00hr.
You are first served with poppadoms with raita, mango chutney & chopped onion/chilli. Starter is a choice of chicken or vegetable pakora or chicken or vegetable samosas. Served with a side salad. We choose chicken pakoras and got 4 generously sized, delicious pieces each all piping hot and crispy 😋
For mains a choice of chicken, lamb or vegetable curries - balti, tikka korma, rogan josh, bhuna or jalfrezi. And a side of either pilau rice or naan. We opted for a chicken korma, chicken tikka masala and a chicken rogan josh with 2 portions of rice & 1 portion naan. All dishes were absolutely delicious and excellent quality. Thick, creamy, coconutty korma (mild), thick creamy tomatoey tikka (mild/medium) and medium spiced tomatoey rogan josh packed with layers of spices. All three had very generous quantities of meat and were served in small bowls with tealight burners underneath to keep them hot (a nice touch). The pilau was cooked to perfection and for a single portion of naan we got 3 large pieces. More food than we could eat, so leftovers were put into a takeaway container for us to carry home.
For dessert we all opted for lemon sorbet (other icecreamflavours included vanilla or strawberry). Served in small metal bowls which had been stored in freezer, the sorbet didn't melt immediately and was a wonderful palette cleanser at the end of the meal.
The restaurant is family run with the mother & father cooking and their son hosting. Extremely polite and friendly. The waiter spoke perfect English (useful as our Spanish is very basic). Parking was free on street to the side.
So much food and such good quality. Highly recommend. Would give more than 5 ⭐️"s if we could.
Muchas gracias Mount Everest 🙏 And definitely...
Read moreIt was my first visit here with my in-laws and must say that the food was incredible! Though the taste of several dishes has been adapted towards a more Spanish taste, overall the quality of food was great. There were total 6 of us and we each took a set lunch which was super value for money! My personal favourite had to be the Cheese Naan with Chicken / Lamb Tikka Masala. Kurma dish and Coconut Naan was a little too sweet for my personal liking. The dessert was also not up to our personal preference but overall it was a great experience. Would definitely recommend anyone living nearby to try if you haven't! A restaurant I wouldn't mind revisiting in the future. And oh, customer service was excellent and hygiene was very well managed i.e. they changed plates after appetizers, carefully distributed clean plates using a cloth to ensure no direct exposure to...
Read moreStaying in the area for just one night. Searched locally for somewhere to eat and Mount Everest sounded fabulous! 5* food. Poppadoms & chutney were not charged for and were DELICIOUS! Someone in the their review said the samosas were not in filo pastry! They were 100% authentic, anyone who has had samosas in India (I cannot confirm for Nepal!) will know they are authentic. We do not eat meat, so can only review the vegetarian options. I love a paneer Madras and the young waiter said this was possible. Also had a vege curry, Saag Paneer and a Chana Masala. Breads were also perfect, Naan and a Chapati. Not at all oily and so full of flavour. Must not forget the great service. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE MOUNT EVEREST. Will return next time we’re...
