TIERRA DE FUEGOS — Restaurant in Pollença

We found this place on trip advisor when looking for a good steakhouse! It is off the beaten track in the town and was very cool finding it in a back street that was absolutely bustling and packed with restaurants I never knew were there!

We visited in mid-october and the restaurant was buzzing, there was a short wait for a table, the waitress told us 20 mins and said we could wait or come back, we opted to walk round the nearby boutiques for a bit and came back 15ish mins later and the table was ready. I would advise booking for peak season!

Staff were friendly and attentive. There was 2 of us and we ordered two starters, the portions were huge so when we come again, we will just order 1 to share. My partner had the broken eggs with ham and fries and I had the nachos. They were happy to accommodate taking things off the nachos, however when they arrived they were definitely interesting. I assumed the "beans" on the nachos would be black beans or pinto beans but they seemed to be similar to Heinz beans in tomato sauce.

Unfortunately the nachos were cold in the middle with none of the cheese melted, I think just from being under a hot grill rather than in the oven (the cheese was not melted below the top level and the salsa and pulled beef etc was also cold from the fridge). The staff noticed we hadn't eaten many and asked if we were happy and I said they were cold and they immediately resolved the issue, took them off the bill and apologised. They were very helpful and we were happy with how quickly they resolved the issue

We both ordered fillet steaks for our mains and wow, they are absolutely HUGE and very good. They both came with very tasty home made fries. We thoroughly enjoyed the steaks and the staff were excellent through our entire meal.

Tierra de Fuegos completely exceeded expectations. (Again we were here last year too)

I had the milk-fed calf from Reinosa and it was simply outstanding. The raw cut was brought to the table first so I could see the beautiful marbling before it was cooked. When it came back, perfectly cooked to medium rare, it was tender, juicy and full of flavour. The flakes of sea salt on top brought out the richness of the meat and every bite was buttery and indulgent. The garlic and pepper fries and homemade pepper sauce were excellent accompaniments, adding just the right balance without overpowering the star of the plate.

My husband had the honey mustard pork shoulder served with sweet potato fries and it was just as impressive, fall-apart tender with a perfectly judged glaze that was sweet and savoury at the same time. We also shared mussels which were fresh and full of flavour.

The cocktail list is brilliant. I had a Bloody Mary style drink that was spicy, refreshing and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere outside was buzzing, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the service was spot on from start to finish. This is a restaurant that really cares about its food and its guests. This is one of our favourite restaurants in Mallorca as we are avid carnivores. Unfortunately the steak we initially received was not up to their usual standards. But I can only say that the grace and professionalism with which the situation was handled not only recovered the situation but made the evening even more special. No quibbles much acceptance and apology. The replacement was devine and the outstanding service was well worthy of an extra tip. I should also mention that the waiting staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful with the information provided about wine. This restaurant is always busy and you do need to book. The reasons why are obvious. A combination of excellent food and superb service.
