We were there for my wifes birthday. It is a small and cool restaurant - unfortunately coolness seems to be more important than guest orientation. Service was completely uncoordinated. The forgot drinks, it took long to order and so on. We ordered the tasting menu for 80 Euro p.p. At the end I could not tell why, beacause portions were smaller and the price around 20 percent higher compared to order the same things a la carte. The starter were veggie croquettes this was good. For our son we ordered meatball croquettes. They were additionally smoked with rosemary in front of us. The taste was so smokey that he did not eat it. Not because he is a kid but it was so smokey that we had that smoke for the whole menu in our mouth. So we ordered again without smoke. The problem was the the pork inside was already full with smoke but the staff did not tell us. So we couldn't eat this again. The there came a deconstructed egg and a grilled water lemon. Both nice but in sice not more than an appetizer. They continued with one mini taco. Oversalted, so I could not taste the accidity of the lemon and could not say if fish or pork. Just salt. The fish was the next course. We sent it back. Way to much salt. Really uneatable. To be fair the acknowledged that and brought it again with another fish. This was a fine dish the n. Best course by far was the pulled lamb. It was juicy, authentic and had a nice and tasty sauce. Still hungry, they brought us granite to clean the mouth on a spoon. This had so much sugar and was so sweet that I only felt sugar and no lemon. Desert was ice cream and an additional cream. It was ok. Then it took them another 15 minutes to bring the bill. Wine was a local wine. The wine list hast only a 10 different wines. But the bottle was good. All in all a disappointing evening for 230,- euros. It was not the quality of the food and also not the appearance of the dishes. This was fine. Manuel cooking mistakes, the bad price to value of the tasting menue and the inattentive service made me write...
Read moreThis is only for the tasting menu of 8 courses as some of the food looked really good. Some of the points are probably due to cultural differences or the dining experience. I have eaten many tasting menus so believe I can give reasonable feedback. The food itself is always a matter of taste but I found several courses well over seasoned with salt and others not to my taste (but that's the point of a tasting menu which I get). The lettuce course had grit/soil in. Most courses were extremely small and to share (the latter maybe the Terrae experience so no complaints as such, just the sizes). The 4 course to 8 course tasting menu sizes were totally inconsistent. The fish must have been approximately 2cm x 2cm on the 8 course but on the 4, 8cm x 8cm (I saw this on the next table) When settling the bill I was asked if everything was ok and said it was ok but the waiter realised I wasn't overly impressed. I said I would email but he asked me to explain. So he said if you pay €92 Vs €45(I think for 4) you should only get approximately 1/2 the size portions of the 4 courses. For the lamb course this was about correct (although I don't agree with the principal with the price and the extra courses were really small). For the fish this was totally disproportionate 4cm sq Vs 64cm sq? For the lettuce he suggested the grittiness was from chargrilling, I'm not sure. He asked if I was full and I said no, which he seemed very surprised. He thanked me for the feedback and let me pay the full amount. I must say the photos do look good 😊. So on the sizing, my main point is if you pay approximately double the amount for the double the courses, sizes should be the same in both menus otherwise the 4 courses is a far...
Read moreI had high expectations having eaten in another Michelin recommended restaurant in Palma (Mambo - fantastic !). If you want average to poor food, served rapido style, with no menu by friendly staff who explain the food quickly and quietly so you only know some of what you are eating, all set in an environment which is inner city bus stop chic, then this place may be for you.
We had the 4 course tasting menu. The first course of egg was ok, though my wife's egg halfway down was gelatinous and unpleasant. 2nd course was good, though we didn't know if it was lettuce or cabbage. Main course was poor, the fish (cod ? we weren't sure) was dry and overcooked, of the beetroot 3 ways the puree was good, the others were discordant and did not go with a fish dish, the potatoes were good. The desert was awful - strawberry purree, caramalised something (banana ?) and a white foam (no idea what it was).
Service was very friendly, though explanations were rushed and food arrived rapido style, a soon as finished one dish the next arrived. I'm sure they will use the "it's tapas" defence, but it just felt very rushed.
Finally the atmosphere.... The restaurant is decorated in graffiti, which I assume is meant to be "edgy". I have no problem with good graffiti and own some graffiti art myself, but this was like a couple of 12 year olds had been let loose. Think inner city bus stop type graffiti. Not sure if the very pleasant joss stick burning in the gents toilet was meant to compensate for no soap or hand towels.
This is I think the longest review I have ever written, but its a reflection of the cost to experience ratio...
