What a lovely day we were having, the weather was perfect, the view a sight to behold and i was surrounded by excellence company. But this sweet sensation turned to ashes in my mouth when i took my first bite of greasy sloppy food which would have been turned away by a half starved colin baker. This issue was exacerbated by the con which claimed to be an oreo addiction. Not only did my cravings for the renowned biscuit snack wain after several glugs of the thin and liquidy concoction but it left me a cotemplating my previous admiration for the acclaimed cookie. Too top the meal off, i had crippling stomach cramps throughout the meal, granted that may have been due to the kilos of raw fish i consumed the night previous whilst engaging in vigorous apple bobbing nonetheless the sensation was unpleasant and the burden of my pain can be rightfully assigned to the restrauant To conclude the experience i endured at tolos bar was less than enjoyable yet the feeling of disappointment and frustration left me yearning to see more of what tolos had to offer, maybe i had been rash in my inital judgement. In the words of Colin baker "I do adore food" and maybe that's the type of attitude I should perpetuate when dining at such a place, therefore I grant tolos with 4 stars out of 5 and...
Read moreLate March, before the summer crowd, so not many places were open for dinner, or at all. Definitely caters to the bike crowd, as can be evidenced by all the biking shirts and cycling memorabilia. Nice views of the sea if you sit closer outside. In total, there was a large table of 13, seemed to be a bike crowd, and maybe 6-7 tables with two people each. Hubby got the spaghetti, I got the Tolo salad, which came with mixed greens, carrot slivers, avocado, feta cheese, white melon that tasted like watermelon, pecans. Nice honey glaze. Not well presented. Both seemed ok, but not worth the €30 bill. Wait staff came twice, once to order, once to drop off food. Spent most of their time catering to the cycling table of 13 men, ignoring the other tables. The rest of the time one waiter was chatting up the bartender, who kept filling his wine glass. Took over 10 minutes of hoping he'd turn around so he could see me waving for the bill. Another table must not have cared for the food, as she left half her pizza behind. Partway back, the salad I ate had something that set off a 12-hour bout of indigestion. So, overall: nice atmosphere, food was ok, service is pretty bad, unless you are a large group of cyclists sharing stories...
Read moreMy cycling group (around 40ppl) had our last lunch, on our 4-day cycling trip, at this restaurant. The location was great, as there was a perfect view of the sea, the staff were unfriendly (except the one guy who helped us with our bill at the end). Our waiter was impatient, dismissive, and snappy. I ordered a pina colada, having ordered this at previous restaurants we visited in Mallorca, but I received water; I couldn't taste the rum, pineapple, or coconut liqueur. I had to send it back. It was replaced with a fresh orange juice, which tasted nice. My seabass was well seasoned and tasted good, but my only gripe was that the fish was cut in half horizontally, thus not a full fish! By the time our bill came, it included the pina coladas that were sent back, bread (which seemed to be complimentary, as they placed it on the table when we sat down and no one requested it) and bottles of water, when we requested a jug of water for the table. It all got sorted out in the end, by the additional items being removed from the bill, but there was a lot of unnecessary stress involved which we could have done without. We ate twice at a restaurant nearby and the food and staff were...
