Guingueta — Restaurant in Portbou

I would have given this place a much higher rating if the staff had any common sense. My server was very nice and chatted with me for awhile, and when an extra dish (that I did not order) arrived, I asked what it was in a manner that would’ve made it really obvious that I had not ordered it. Given that these gifts are common practice in many Mediterranean places such as this, it wasn’t crazy that the server had just given it to me and didn’t bat an eye when I clearly didn’t know what it was. I was, however, surprised to see the second dish on the bill. When I explained that I did not order it, that I am not from here and thought it was a gift, three different employees started yelling at me, saying that if I ate it, I need to pay for it. One said that I should have known that it was not a gift because it was too big - but how am I, as a foreigner, supposed to know how big the dish should be? They basically yelled at me until I paid the bill under duress. I don’t like leaving one-star reviews, but given that they stole €13 from me, I need to warn other tourists that they should not expect hospitality...

Been here 2 minutes and love this place already! I was gifted some jamon (ham), (I gave a cute little dog some), the lads at the bar didn’t accept my payment as they knew I’d be here a while. Undoubtedly I will, this view is perfect, great rock & roll on the stereo & just a really nice vibe. Fully recommend this place as a Kiwi/Aussie with limited...

A fuir !! Vous avons eu le malheur de nous arrêter à se petit bar-restaurant bien placé au bord de la mer qui a une jolie vue sur le littoral. Nous nous sommes installés et un serveur sympathique est venu prendre notre commande tout va bien ? Oui, jusqu'ici , nous n'avions pas déjeuner et donc prenons des gambas et un autre petits plats ( je ne connais pas le noms), quand le serveur est enfin revenu avec nos plats, il y avait des mouches autour des gambas, et un poil sur l'autre plat. Ma soeur pourtant pas difficile se plaind de sa nourriture et fait goûter a ma mère qui va gentillement, notifier au monsieur du bar que les gambas sont un peu bizarre. Et là, le monsieur s'énerve sur ma mère en disant que c'est normal car elles sont surgelées et qu'il veut garder la réputation de son restaurant ! Quelle réputation monsieur ? Celle d'un restaurant sale ! Nous avons payé et en voulant sortir nous l'avons entendu marmonné et crié sur les serveurs et clients du restaurant. J'ai un conseil pour vous , n'y allez pas !...
