We had one of the worst dining experiences ever at Restaurant Espanya in Portbou. Our “lunch” dragged on for nearly 4 hours due to incredibly slow and disorganized service. It took 45 minutes just to have a drink order taken, then an hour for entrees, and another hour before the mains arrived – served at completely different times. Out of 9 people, 4 had finished eating before the rest even received their meals.
The staff seemed indifferent and uninterested. An extremely elderly gentleman (possibly the owner) wandered around interfering with staff in between chatting to his friend at a table, which only slowed things down further. His sidekick in an orange Hawaiian-style shirt sat at the table drinking and doing nothing.
To top it off, two people in our group reported that when they went to the restroom, this same man in the orange shirt was standing at the urinal in full view of everyone – totally inappropriate and unpleasant.
Overall, the whole experience was horrible: terrible service, lack of professionalism, and no respect for guests’ time or comfort. Definitely not...
