Restaurant Nou Aquàrium — Restaurant in Roses

We ate here on 2 occasions as we were in an apartment next door. The food is good and the initial service is good , however due to us having our dogs with us , we had to eat outside , no problem , until we were surrounded by smokers , which ruined our experience. We moved Both times to the rear of the outside dining area which is OK but why should we have to pay the same price as indoors and also have poor service. When we were asked why we had moved , they just said , no worries , it's not a problem , WELL it was a problem and they do nothing about it. On both occasions it ruined our experience. The waiters are great Iniially , but are oblivious to the smoking problem. Overall we felt they were not professional and should have designated areas for smokers outside as their area has plenty of space , so why sit smokers...

Zum ersten mal in dieser Gegend, zum ersten mal in diesem Ort und zum ersten mal in diesem Restaurant. Vorweg: 27 Jahre als Chefkoch im eigenem Fischrestaurant an der Ostseeküste tätig. Ich sollte also wissen, wovon ich rede. Das Restaurant „Aquarium“ macht auf den ersten und auch zweite Blick einen guten Eindruck. Personal schien kompetent zu sein, war höflich und nett. Im Eingangsbereich befand sich ein Aquarium, mit frischen Muscheln aller Art. Eine Platte von diesen sollte es für mich sein. Meine Frau hatte Tintenfisch gewählt, als Vorspeise wollten wir uns einen Salat „GARTEN“ (so die Speisekarte) teilen. Dazu ein Flasche Weißwein des Hauses. Der Wein war gut, aber als Hauswein zu teuer. Der Gartensalat war auch gut, kam aber mit reichlich Thunfisch daher (vielleicht wächst dieser hie ja im Garten?). Mangels Sprachkenntnisse (katalanisch), bestellte ich eine Mixplatte. Im angemessenen Zeitraum kam das Hauptgericht. Mein Gericht ohne jegliche Muscheln, sondern nur Fisch (okay, Sprache). Was mir da aber vorgesetzt wurde, spottete jeder Beschreibung. Jede Menge kleinere Fische, der Art Sardellen. Tintenfischringe, 3 Streifen Kalamares, alles paniert und aus der TK Truhe und alles in der Fritteuse gegart. Keinerlei Garnitur, nur eine Scheibe Zitrone. Meine Frau, die schon öfters Tintenfisch hatte, bekam ebenfalls panierten Tintenfischringe aus der Truhe, die ebenfalls in der Fritt gebadet wurden. Mein Hauptgericht kam 14,50, das meiner Frau 9,50. So ein Essen gab es bei uns in Deutschland Anfang der 90 Jahre. Später dann noch in Imbisbuden zum schmalen Kurs, bis es dann irgendwann komplett verschwand. So was, hier an der Küste als Hauptgericht zu den Preis anzubieten, grenzt für mich schon als Frechheit. Fazit: Haus, Ambiente und Bedienung...

Went there today at 7 p.m. Asked, if a Paella for one was possible and got a positive answer. So we wanted to stay there for a quick meal for 4 persons. The waiter then told us, that without reservation it would not be possible to stay. Because not a single table was occupied, we were a bit confused and left. At 8:30 p.m. we came back to more than 10 tables still free. Seems like the restaurant keeps several table free to pretend it is booked out. Can't recommend just because of the service....
