La Callejuela — Restaurant in Rota

The name says it all. Callejuela literally translates to lane and this place is tucked around a cute little corner, creating a sense of ambience and peaceful quiet for all of those seated at an outdoor table. While it may be a bit difficult to find, it is worth it's weight in gold for the intimate feelings and atmosphere it affords.

Now onto the food. The tortilla de camarones were exceptional! There were nice large chunks of shrimp in a batter cooked to perfection. The Pulpo Gallega was equally amazing with the potatoes cooked to perfection, blended with an array of garlic, paprika, salt, and olive oil. EXPERIENCIA DECEPCIONANTE-ARROZ INCOMESTIBLE Hemos ido a comer, de entrante pulpo que estaba rico, de segundo arroz caldoso. El arroz sabía a quemado, estaba incomestible, muy malo, nos hemos servido, hemos intentado comernoslo pero imposible. Inmediatamente hemos pedido la cuenta para irnos, cuando ha venido el camero, ha visto que el puchero estaba prácticamente lleno, nos ha preguntado que tal estaba porque "algo había pasado en cocina" y "otros clientes tb les habían comentado algo", le hemos explicado lo ocurrido y pedido la cuenta, nos ha dicho que iba a ver cómo podía solucionarlo. No nos han ofrecido cambiar el arroz por otro, ni pedir otro plato en compensación, nos han cobrado los 35€ de un arroz que han servido sabiendo que no estaba bien y que han apañado con agua y mucho colorante pensando que todo vale. sin preguntar, para "compensarnos" (nos hemos ido sin comer) nos han puesto 2 postres en la mesa, sin saber si serían de nuestro agrado o si teníamos alguna intolerancia alimentaria (como alergia a los frutos secos ...) Sinceramente, lo suyo habría sido no cobrar un arroz que sabéis estaba para tirar, hemos pagado casi 60€ y solo hemos comido la media ración de pulpo. Vergonzosa gestión de la situación. De los camareros, todo bien, nos han servido con amabilidad y pedido disculpas por la situación. NO VAMOS A VOLVER, NI LO VAMOS...

Menu is only by using a phone app, no hard copy to look at. Food brought was not what we ordered,even though we used the Spanish menu with the pictures.
