We've been loyal customers of Casa Emilio whenever we visit Rota, and it used to be our beloved spot for both food and excellent service. Unfortunately, our experience this weekend was a stark contrast, particularly with the service. We arrived without a reservation, as we often have, and immediately felt ignored. The two waiters seemed overwhelmed, moving like 'food delivery robots,' completely bypassing us. When we finally managed to ask about a table, the response was cold: 'We don't know, all tables busy.' This was a complete turnaround from previous years where, even without a reservation, we were met with warmth and attentiveness and felt assured. We waited until a table freed up, only to wait another 15 minutes for it to be cleaned and for menus to arrive – and only after we explicitly asked. The explanation given was, 'It's summer, we are busy and we are first serving the ones with reservations.' We understand that summer is busy, but a simple 30-second acknowledgment, an apology for the wait, or some assurance goes a long way. What made it worse was observing other customers, who appeared to be locals, receiving much quicker and more attentive service. It's disappointing to have to wonder if being non-local played a role. The food was still acceptable, but the severe decline in service means we won't be returning. If you're a visitor to Rota, I'd suggest looking for a place with more attentive and friendly staff, as Casa Emilio's service is sadly not what...
Read moreThis restaurant was just okay, but I expected more. The food was decent, but nothing about it was memorable some dishes were bland, and others felt like they’d been sitting out too long. The service was hit or miss; our waiter was friendly at first but then disappeared for long stretches, leaving us waiting for refills and the bill. The atmosphere wasn’t great either it was too loud, with conversations from nearby tables drowning out our own. The prices didn’t feel justified for the quality, which was a letdown. The place itself looked clean, but the lighting was harsh, making it feel less inviting. It’s not the worst restaurant I’ve been to, but it’s far from the best. I’d probably look for somewhere with better consistency and value next time I’m...
Read moreAfter such a nice experience last year, with elderly waiter, who served us excellently, offered us some wonderful wine, such a contrast today!!
Last year I saved Casa Emilio like the best food experience in this area, and such a dissapointment was here today!
Two young waitresses neither greeted us nor offered to wait for a table when we arrived, but just ran past us for half an hour, completely ignoring us. Other customers were clearly being given attention, it seems that the waitresses discriminate against foreigners, even if they speak good Spanish like us.
It’s a shame to treat their clients like this, in such a beautiful town like Rota, which really lives from tourism.
It’s better to avoid this place, especially if you are...
