I wish I found this place sooner during the family holiday to Salou.
I went 3 days in a row for their cooked breakfast and tea, and twice for dinner. I would've gone for much more if I had known sooner.
As an Autistic, I find it really hard to find places to eat due to sensory issues, texture differences and over all food related difficulties.
I dubbed this place to all of my friends as the most friendly and Autistic friendly food place I encountered in Salou.
It was my first visit to another country and I was mostly stressed and concerned about finding safe food. This place was where I went for the safe food and drinks in terms of being Neuro-Divergent.
I love writing reviews for places like this because then others know what to expect. If this place was back in my city at home it would probably be my number one spot.
It isn't just the food that makes this a number one spot for me though. I felt accomadated, appreciated, respected and wanted in this bar enviroment. The staff were all incredibly friendly and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Everyone was lovely, they were also open to a small bit of chit-chat while they worked and were in general really nice and respectable people!
The atmosphere and the food was top notch. I do think the prices are a bit low for the quality of the food and the clear attention to quality and experience the staff take into consideration. I do think the food should be a bit higher in terms of cost, or at least, especially the steak BUT I understand the need to compete with other food locations in the area and appealing to tourists.
Another thing I'd love to point out is the fact they do not disturb people while they're eating. I LOVED that. I always prefer when staff approach to ask about the food after you're finished (when plates are collected) or at the least, when you don't have a mouthful and this place does just that perfectly!
The bathrooms were also regularly cleaned, always smelled fresh too! However, they do not have a disabled toilet, so those that aren't able bodied should consider this when visiting. I have mobility issues and I can walk and use smaller bathrooms, but those that have a bigger struggle may not find the bathrooms as easy to use as I do.
All in all, I would go every day for the rest of my life if I could and on that note, I would love to thank the wonderful staff for making my overall experience so lovely. We tipped every time because it was 100% deserved.
I wish this place the best successes and if I return to Salou, I shall definitely come...
Read moreI recently went for dinner with my family in this establishment and the red flags should have been copped before we entered the building. We were brought to the back of the restaurant just by the entrance to the toilets. The heat was overwhelming and the noise levels were intense. There was a family opposite us with toddlers running around throwing buckets of cutlery on the floor, at the end of their meal one of the toddlers was laid out on the bench and the parent changed his heavy nappy, the smell mixed with the help of the heat wafted throughout the restaurant. I understand a mother needs to do what she needs to do but I thought it was so disrespectful to other families trying to eat their meals. The woman proceeded to leave the dirty nappy on the dining table, once they left the waiter came and reset the table without disinfecting. I am appalled that that the waiters/waitresses did not intervene here and ask the lady to use the toilet especially for health and safety purposes. As you’d expect our stomachs had turned by the time the food arrived but it didn’t help that the food was overcooked, soggy and dry. My sister ordered the meatballs with pasta and the pasta was so overcooked it was like mashed potato. My father was unimpressed with his warm coleslaw. It was also extremely overpriced for the quality of the food...
Read moreI've visited Route 66 Salou three times now and will definitely be back again soon. The fun, Americana-themed decor provides a lively atmosphere and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming.
On two breakfast visits, my partner and I enjoyed delicious traditional fry-ups while our daughters opted for scrambled eggs and stacked pancakes - they loved the little American flags placed in their food! For dinner, we all went for burgers and chips which were cooked to perfection. The service was fantastic across all our visits, with attentive and efficient wait staff who even gave our daughters lollipops at the end of their meals.
I've visited at both lunch and dinnertime and the vibe was enjoyable no matter when we went. The prices are very reasonable for the high quality of the food and drinks. With a great menu ranging from hearty breakfasts to juicy burgers and ribs, Route 66 Salou has something for everyone.
I would highly recommend this restaurant and bar to anyone visiting the Salou area - it's an absolute must-try for a memorable dining experience with first-class service. My family can't wait to go...
