Restaurant El Gallo Viejo — Restaurant in Sant Josep de sa Talaia

Booked in advance as Saturday night and needed to as it became very busy with people turned away (even saw them turned away later in the week as we passed by). Great welcome and service from the manager and all staff. We had the Iberico Ham to start and was the best we'd ever had. It was great watching the kitchen carefully preparing this dish with such care and respect. For mains, one of us had the fresh red tuna, which was big and delicious, as was the mixed grill that two of us shared. The fourth person had the grilled chicken breast and whilst we were warned that it would be dry, it was far from it - and it too was massive. 2 stars as some of the food was good and gave a hint of what it could be like however the atmosphere and service was like you'd just walked in on a family argument. We had to keep asking to be served for the basics (15 minutes to be asked to get drinks on arrival) then paella served away from the table and not asked if you wanted more. Forgot about my wife's dish and then rapidly served her something different. Local radio station playing (adverts and all) just to add to the 'vibe'. We had dinner yesterday at El Gallo Viejo Ibiza Restaurante, and it was an amazing experience! We ordered the Black Angus steak and the Double Smash Black Angus Burger – the meat was incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. The burger was outstanding!

For dessert, we had the Banoffee cake, which I can highly recommend to anyone with a sweet tooth – absolutely delicious!

Our waiter Aifred was extremely friendly and very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed.
