I had a quite interesting experiencing with mixed feelings while visiting the restaurant last weekend. Just before 21:00 I called the restaurant in order to verify the possibility of booking a table for the same evening and said we’d be coming around 21:30 and so did we. As we arrived we were surprised how beautiful the restaurant was. One of the waiters guided us to our table and we were then told that we would unfortunately split our group of five ppl into two different tables due to Covid regulations. The restaurant is 100% correct of doing it and I was unaware of it as we have sat all together for over a week in all restaurants that we’ve visited. Based on our experience I asked 3 times and was not answered in any of them why we were not informed on the telefone that we would have to be seated into two different tables. It was a minor problem actually as the second table in the end was place very close to the main one. We’ve orders a pulpo carpaccio which was amazing, wine was good and the fish dishes were amazing according to my friends that could eat fish prawns and co. Due to allergy I have ordered a steak, as they didn’t have the fish I wanted to order (and I find it totally acceptable when it comes to fish) and I wasn’t even asked how I would like to have my steak, which is a very basic mistake. I am very understanding and it was not a big problem as I sent back to the kitchen and I prefer it to be medium rare and not almost raw. Just about a two thirds of my stake (and another friend had the same problem) was edible. The other third was pure fat. After having the stake and before my colleagues finished their dishes I asked the waiter if we could order dessert and then I was told that we would not be able to order any dessert as we would have to pay because of the corona restrictions. Once I got the bill I gave the waitress a feedback of our experience. Additionally to what I mentioned above (including the positive feedback) I mentioned that they could’ve asked us if we would like to order any dessert before the kitchen was closed when there was still time to order it. I told her that I would not recommend the restaurant and would not like come back. I expected a better service for the price.
After a couple of minutes the nightmare of the evening started. A man showed up at our table and introduced himself as the owner. I was expecting him to be nice to us but he was not understanding, had a lack of empathy and was quite aggressive with his speech. He was trying to educate me that I should inform myself about the Covid rules before visiting a country and he kept taking about this point in a never ending loop. He wold me there was not enough staff to look after al tables as an excuse for not giving attention to the gasta. There was 3 or 4 waiters plus the owner who could’ve jumped in and helped. When we arrived there was 6 occupied tables (far less than the capacity) with about 26 guests. I told him we were really looking forward trying the dessert and he told me he would never interrupt a guest to draw attention to the fact that the kitchen needed to be close and there was still time to order a dessert as he considers it rude. He could’ve offered us icecream (which was on the menu) as take away and apologies, instead of being rude and arrogant. We all know these are crazy times and communication is the key. You could’ve increased your revenue that evening. Maybe the owner can change his attitude and who knows one day we give it a chance once more.
I gave one star because the owner was a exotic person. The fish dishes were good, steak was 2/3 edible and I can’t (unfortunately) rate the dessert. Owners behavior was the responsible from dropping from 3/4...
Read moreWe booked as a family on a recent trip to Cala Tarida and had high hopes for the restaurant, however we were left disappointed. Because we were eating as a large party of 11, including kids, we booked in advance and deceided to eat early to avoid our kids being a nuisance to others in the restaurant. We did try to rearrange to slightly later (19:00 instead of 18:00), but our requests via Instagram (where we had booked the table originally) were not responded to - but we weren't too worried about that. When we got to the restaurant, which was mostly empty due to the time we were eating, our table was not ready, as they had not laid out enough place settings, or even put chairs round. This was sorted though and we sat down. We asked for additional glasses for water to be brought out too, but they never arrived, despite asking two different waiting staff. We waited for a few minutes and then our waiter came over to take our order. We found the waiter rude and unattentive, as when we were giving him our order, he was waving and shouting to someone he knew in the restaurant and we had to keep repeating our orders. Once he had taken our order, our drinks started to arrive - although one of our party's drink wasn't brought out. We asked the waiter on four different occasions to bring the drink - and finally after 15 minutes, the last drink was brought out. We ordered a few starters, which were tasty and brought our alongside the kids' food. For our main, we ordered the paella to share between 5 of us and then a monkfish dish. When the paella arrived, it was okay - albeit quite salty and without the socarrat - but we noticed that it didn't contain any meat (we had ordered a seafood and meat paella). Once we had finished, we asked for the bill as we were never asked if we wanted any additional drinks. When the bill came, they had added extra drinks onto the bill and they had taken our order incorrectly and brought the seafood only paella, rather than the one we requested. Considering we only ordered two main dishes between us, this was disappointing - but perhaps not surprising, given the waiter's attentiveness to us. We raised both of these with the waiter and there was no apology, just a bit of a shrug to say "I didn't hear you". They removed the drinks that we didn't have, but again, no apology. It is a real shame, as the location of the restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere was nice - but the staff we so rude, it really didn't make us want to ever return. We all had the same impression - like they felt like they were doing us the favour in allowing us to be in the restaurant, rather than treating us well. As mentioned before, it was very disappointing as we had high hopes for the restaurant, but the service fell way below the...
Read moreAn Utterly Absurd and Disappointing Experience. I have only written one other restaurant review in my life, but this experience was so astonishingly bad that I feel it is my duty to share it. The nightmare began the moment we walked in. We were told there were no available tables after waiting 20 minutes, despite half the restaurant being empty. The waiter spoke to us exclusively in Spanish, and when I told him in Spanish that I didn't speak the language, he made no effort to get another server and continued on. Frustrated, I finally managed to ask another server if we could just have a table to eat quickly. Miraculously, a table suddenly appeared. Things only got worse from there. When I asked if they had pepper sauce, I was told yes. My steak arrived without it, so I asked again. After a 10-minute wait, I inquired a third time, only to be told they suddenly had no sauce at all. Just as I started eating my medium-rare steak (which was actually rare), a waiter appeared with what he called a "red wine sauce." It was incredibly sweet and not what I asked for. The only positive part of the meal was that the steak itself was juicy and a generous size. Finally, it was time to pay. We tried to get the attention of any server for about 10 minutes, making eye contact and waving, but no one came. When we finally got the bill, we left cash in the container provided and waited for our change. After a few minutes, we gave up, assuming they could keep the change as a tip (though after the experience, we had no intention of giving one). As we walked to our car, two waiters came sprinting after us, loudly accusing us of not paying. I explained that the money was in the container on the table. They were aggressive and adamant we hadn't paid. We walked back to the table, and there it was—the money, sitting in the container, untouched. They hadn't even bothered to check before chasing us down. The most shocking part? We received no apology for the absurd scene they had created. This entire experience was a masterclass in how not to run...
