Il Carretino Siciliano — Restaurant in Santa Eulària des Riu

I have been to Il Carrettino Siciliano several times. I come back every time I visit Es Cana or Santa Eulalia. My previous visits were nothing short of outstanding, the food, the atmosphere and the staff were all exceptional! However, tonight, that was not the case. I paid a visit as it is one of my last nights here before I fly back home, but it’s completely ruined my evening and I have to say I won’t be rushing back here any time soon. I’ve wasted €20 on a main course which was average quality and €9 on an Aperol Spritz which was watery and took over 15 minutes to arrive. I am on my own, so I appreciate I won’t bring in as much money for them as a larger table would but I am still very much a paying customer, so they should have treated me like one. Upon arrival, I asked for a table for one and they looked at me like I had two heads and like it was an unreasonable request. They took about 5 minutes to decide where to seat me and then as soon as I had paid, they were ushering other people to my table as quickly as they could before I had even stood up out of my seat. I am absolutely appalled by the rudeness and lack of attentiveness from the staff, I have not been treated like this from anywhere else on this gorgeous island, they have absolutely ruined this day for me....

We ate here on our first night of the holiday and it was stunning food and service. Other guests at the hotel tried and didn't manage to get a seat there so worth arriving early or getting a reservation. We had the mozzarella, tomato and pesto with bread starter to share as it was massive - it was a stunning start to the meal. Afterwards I had a pizza and my wife had something like a pizza but with no tomato sauce which she also enjoyed but would have liked tomato sauce if she'd have realised. The waitress was amazing, attentive and certainly didn't rush us even though there were so many people who wanted to eat there. We were even given a complimentary lemoncello each at the end...

Possibly the best Italian restaurant we have ever visited.. JUST WOW. Starter garlic bread with chilli sauce offered. The tomato sauce was so good and the garlic sauce was so good!! Mains. Had spaghetti carbonara and pesto pasta. The carbonara was so good but.. BUT the pesto pasta was to die for. If you visit this place.. you need to try this main dish. Oh and they leave you the Parmesan grated cheese.. 💯🙏 Wine was really good and complimentary to the food. Overall.. RECOMMENDED 5* A MUST VISIT.. CANNOT TELL YOU.
