We had a reservation for a Friday night, my husbands birthday. We ran a little late and contacted the restaurant. They told us that they worked with shifts and it wasn’t possible to arrive later? Strange, because in these kind of restaurants we spend, normally, a whole evening. I was shocked, this is an exclusive restaurant, we were supposed to have the 8 course menu. When I asked if we had to eat all of the 8 courses in 2 hours the answer was ‘yes this is how we work’. We cancelled, 8 courses in 2 hours sound horrible to me. We have eaten at Martin Berasategui in San Sebastián couple of times, never had any kind of ridiculousness like this. Not sure what the policy is, but this...
Read moreLumbre at the Bless Hotel is one of those pleasant surprises you don’t see coming. The setting is already a show on its own: the sea melting into endless shades of blue while the sun paints the sky in warm colors. Stunning doesn’t even start to cover it. Then comes the food. No tasting menu here, but a wide à la carte selection that makes you want to try everything. Must-orders? The Bravas Mediterráneas and the Tomates del Mediterráneo, easily among the best on the island. Don’t skip the Pimientos del piquillo a la Lumbre, a true standout. For mains, just go with the catch of the day: freshness guaranteed. I went also for the Lomo bajo madurado a la brasa, and it was simply outstanding: tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The wine list is well curated, with both Spanish gems and international picks. Prices are in line with a 5-star hotel, and service is as kind and attentive as you’d expect. A perfect blend of view, vibe, and flavors, definitely worth a stop.
Read morePlease do not look at the photos and expect fine dining these photos have not been up dated from when this was a fine dinning experience as this restaurant has now dropped its fine dining (but still have the old pictures up) and is more the standard of a Berger bar. The service was appalling… two dishes were missing. The food in this hotel has really gone down since changing brands….. don’t bother if you want a fine dining experience as this is not what...
