Bar Jamaica — Restaurant in Santa Margalida

We visited this bar several times as it was the closest to the place we stayed. So we gave it several chances, and we were disappointed with all of them.

The tables and chairs are dirty (greasy or covered with dust), the same for cups and plates.

The food is not delicious, we offered different meat dishes several times, and either they were overcooked (too dry to eat) or not cooked well enough (raw inside and not possible to chew).

Moreover, we got a salad with spoiled ingredients. It smelled bad and didn’t taste fresh. And when we addressed the waiter and then the manager regarding that, we were told, that everything was good with the salad and it was fresh (when it wasn’t!!!).

When you visit Can Picafort , you will definitely see this bar, and you will be invited to sit there, as they have a very aggressive client politics and they literally catch people on the street. Don’t be seduced! Do a favor to your stomach and avoid this place! I do not recommend it at all! There are much better places to enjoy in Can Picafort.

UPDATE: Reply to the owner’s comment: as I mentioned, we visited your „restaurant“ several times, and we experienced both take away and dining in. None of the options is good for reasons mentioned above. we didn’t order the food by the phone. We came to a restaurant, ordered take away and informed your manager in advance that we would take it in an hour and specified the exact time! And that is exactly what we did (and not that we took it an hour later after we were told it was cooked as you claim!!!) a freshly made salad (as your employees claimed) can’t get spoiled in an hour. So either ingredients for your „freshly made“ salad were already spoiled, or your staff was lying that it was freshly made. And if you blame the heat, then a refrigerator should be used to keep salads in. your staff hasn’t offered us any options that you mentioned (like changing the salad or the refund), all they did was just keep telling us that the salad was fresh and that’s all (doesn’t look very professional and according to the „client is always right“ rule). Annoyed waitress, average food, and ample portions: Nice atmosphere, they sat us by the speaker and turned down the music so it wasn’t blasting in our ears. Very diverse menu and nice view. My friends got ribs, grilled chicken and gyros and had no complaints, the ribs especially were liked. I got paella and the meat and fish was ok but after eating the rice I thought it wasn’t seasoned in the slightest or spicy at all. I don’t like a lot of spice at all I’m a wimp but there was none. I told the waitress I wasn’t a fan and asked to change to a pizza and they were surprised. They asked the kitchen who said yes and the only bad thing was the waitress then came back and disagreed with me annoyedly and told me it was perfect. Fair if she liked it how it was but I did get my partner to taste it and he said the same, no seasoning, so it wasn’t just my weird/poor tastebuds. Our all inclusive hotel food was better seasoned. They did take it off the bill though which was nice because as I said I had eaten some of the meat and fish already before I tried the rice so the staff could have been under the impression I was trying to score free food, the staff were perfectly nice after and my 4 cheese pizza was 6/10 (they dumped a load of oregano on it to take the piss out of me saying the paella was under seasoned but I like oregano so whatever) mostly scored it that high because it had a nice crispy wood fired base. The waitress serving us brought me a box because I couldn’t eat it all, it was a decent size and fair to the price. Considering how expensive it is to eat out in the UK now too it was good value for the amount of food you get but I wouldn’t ever go back just because of how annoyed the waitress got at me for sending food back even though they asked me why I didn’t like it and then got offended at my answer. I had a terrible experience at this bar! The owner is extremely rude and unprofessional. They advertised a deal where we would get one free cocktail for every four we ordered. However, when it was time to pay, they tried to charge us for all the cocktails, including the ones that were supposed to be free. When we politely pointed out their mistake, the owner became angry and kicked out one of our friends.

To make matters worse, when we asked for a reclamation paper to report what happened, the owner refused to give it to us. We were shocked and disappointed by their lack of accountability.

When we threatened to leave a bad review, the owner tried to bribe us with our "free" cocktails. That was of course after we payed for everything we drank.

Overall, I would not recommend this bar to anyone. The owner's behavior was unacceptable and we were very dissatisfied with our experience. Save yourself the trouble and find a different place to enjoy...
