I can't understand why this restaurant is so low on the TripAdvisor "Best Restaurant" list for Santa Pola, other than the fact that it's on the periphery of town, ( the nicest area). We've eaten there as a couple, and with friends, more than twenty times and it's my go to restaurant when visiting Spain. Reasonable prices, great staff and food from different regions of Spain. We have literally NEVER had a bad meal there. They specialise in Calderas, (stews), which we've had, but we normally go for the Menu de Dia, the one for usually €20. You won't come away hungry and you'll have eaten beautifully cooked and flavoured dishes that you cannot sample in other restaurants nearby. Seating indoors and out, and usually very busy around lunchtime and at the weekends, with lots of families dining. I've always eaten there between November and May, so can't tell you what peak season is like, but I guess it's very busy. They serve snacks and single plates too, so you can dine for less than €10. Overall I thoroughly recommend and am gutted to find that it's closing for two months for vacations when I'm...
Read moreWe were expecting a lot while last year this was a really good place. Apperently the owner is changed and we where not impressed anymore. The service was correct but the food was really not very good. The Albondigas looked like they came from a can. The croquetas where also not very tastefull. Even the Pan con tomatos was really not good. The salad was also nothing special to mention. The huevos rotos was the only dish what we tasted what was good in our opinion. I have tasted a lot of tapas in my life but this was a really disapointing experience. We told the waitres about the albondigas but she told us it was homemade. We hope they bring back the quality tonthe old level but for now we cannot...
