Brother and I wanted to splurge a little on a random November night in 2022. We wanted to also check out the casino for some possible night entertainment so we were stumbling around looking for restaurants. Perhaps we came in the off season or we were out too early for dinner but we couldn’t find a place we liked until we stumbled onto this place. We sat down and realized we were indeed too early for dinner service so we ordered dos cañas and waited. Throughout, we were served tapas (popcorn, olives) while waiting. And when dinner service started, we were excited. We got foie gras, calamares, croquetas, etc. When the plates came, we thought the server misheard our orders because the servings looked like 2 raciones per dish, but luckily it was not. The portions were just pretty big. All in all, it was a delicious and memorable meal. One of the best croquetas I have had in Spain, and I have been to a lot of places (for a tourist). Prices were a little high for Spanish standards, but I wouldn’t say it was overpriced. Big portions and high quality products. Would come back again. Service wasn’t like the best I have ever had, but still a lot better than average. Attentive servers who try their best to explain the dishes (because not all speak English and I my Spanish isn’t good enough to understand culinary vocabulary).

We visited this place on Wednesday for breakfast after just getting off a flight from the UK. Whilst I appreciate the language barrier, we ordered drinks and were then presented with food which wasn't ordered, it was a menu we requested. The waitress removed the food with a scowl and was quite animated when discussing with her colleague at the bar. We then ordered food which was basically dropped on the table. I asked for a toasted california sandwich and received half a sandwich. Maybe this is normal here. As it was close to our hotel, we stupidly went back the following day for a quick snack (Thursday). The young waitress behind the bar was extremelly rude to my wife and after slamming a glass on the bar she muttered something about English (we are actually from Scotland) to her colleague and started sniggering. My wife asked what the problem was and they just laughed. We then left. Very immature and extremelly rude. If tourists are not welcome here, put up a sign saying so instead of making people feel unwelcome. If you are from the UK, you will not be made to feel welcome here based on our experience. There are nicer and more welcoming places to eat just around the corner.

I visited Al Norte for dinner this week and it was fabulous. As a non-Spanish speaker I was a bit lost (even with an English version of the menu) on what to order but our waiter was fabulous. He advised on house specialities and great local wines. A 30 euro menu included at least five taster starters, main, dessert & wine! Especially good starter was the fish & crab pudding (terrine-like) and main course of hake stuffed crab with sauce - brilliant. Highly recommend this restaurant for foodies!
