Cantabria Restaurant — Restaurant in Santander

Visited this place along with my girlfriend having seen some of the reviews (and because it was near to where we were staying), and I highly recommend!

We had a salted cod carpaccio, langoustines in garlic, and a mix of the croquetes, alongside some bread for the sauces etc. They were all great, the cod in particular; and the langoustines were simple but incredibly tasty. Alongside it, we had two jugs of sangria, which again was really good.

The cost for all this was €57, which given what I might pay back in England was incredible value. In fact we initially tried to order too much, but the waiter told us to stop, which was good of him!

It was a really relaxed atmosphere. It wasn't too busy, so we got a table outside, and there was clearly a big party of local people there for a meal as well (always a good sign). Fantastic service from our waiter for the night.

For people travelling from outside Spain, they didn't speak English, but a mixture of my own (poor!) Spanish and Google translate got us through. And you can pay cash or card.

Le pongo la nota más baja posible ya que este bar no es el que aparece en las fotos. Desconozco si ha cambiado de dueño o no (ya que hace tiempo solía ir y tenía los jamones colgados del techo) pero cuando entras en el bar de ser la típica tasca a la que íbamos a ser un bar de barrio sucio.

Nos pedimos 2 vinos blancos y unas Rabas. Uno de los vinos fue servido en una copa bastante sucia. Luego empezamos a ver como había pequeños insectos que recorrían la barra. Estos insectos resultaban ser cucarachas. Las había del tamaño que muestro en las fotos y un poco más grandes. El camarero las miraba y como que parecía que estaba acostumbrado a convivir con ellas en la barra ya que no hacía ni el intento de quitarlas. Además algunos clientes también las mataban como podían, lo que sorprende es que las mataban sin extrañarles que en la barra estuvieran andando como si nada.

Luego nos pusieron las Rabas (adjunto fotos) y estas de Rabas tenían poco además de mal cocinadas por lo crudas que estaban. Finalmente dejando la ración de Rabas casi entera pedimos la cuenta y nos fuimos. Me sorprendió como el camarero vio que dejamos la comida entera y no nos preguntó si estaba de nuestro gusto o que pasaba. Lo normal es que dedicandote a la hostelería quieras saber si tus clientes se van satisfechos o no, por lo que se ve a él le daba completamente igual.

Por añadir algo más había una pareja de dos chicas en frente sentada en una mesa. Se pidieron una cerveza y algo más de beber. Al parecer pidieron de comer y directamente pasaron de ellas. Pues a continuación y tras esperar un rato se fueron sin comer.

En definitiva este bar tiene una puntuación de 4,1 porque hereda los comentarios del anterior dueño (o anterior gestion). Hoy en día este establecimiento no se...

Visited this place on a rainy Monday evening and found it to be a really great experience. Despite not speaking the language great, the service by the front of house team was really understanding in getting what we needed. The staff were pretty attentive on the somewhat quiet evening but very lovely throughout. The food is served in rather generous quantities from their sharing menu and of good quality. Standouts for me on the night were the Jamon de la casa and the braised beef cheek. Would definitely come to visit again if back...
