Santa & Co — Restaurant in Santander

The place is NOT worth the hype. The food is ok, clearly catering to foreigners that just want some eggs and bacon for breakfast. It’s small and they are understaffed and the treatment isn’t worth the runny eggs. We were a party of 4, so shouldn’t have been a big deal. When we ordered the server was pissed we didn’t know our order even though the place was almost empty and we were missing one person. By the time we got our food, things were busier and we couldn’t order more despite being still hungry. By the time we were ready for the bill and everyone in my party had slowly left, still no one came. The last person asked for the bill as they were walking out. She said ok and then they were slammed. Because I was still sitting at the table alone and wasn’t acknowledged, I got up to go to the front. They were again pissed that I was there but I had a toddler who was ready to go. I almost felt bad for them being understaffed and seeing how small the kitchen was except that they had a lull and purposely ignored me and one of the servers said something under his breath. The food is decent. I had a plate of tasty eggs with toast, avocado and tomatoes. The service on the other hand... it's a crapshoot. If you don't mind your food being more or less thrown at you, the staff constantly looking upset, and making you feel like you did something terrible because you asked for something, then I recommend the place. Otherwise better stay away. Most of the staff there seems really unhappy about their jobs. I was there for three hours so I saw how they treated not just me but many different customers. Despite ordering in Spanish as a native speaker, it didn't make any difference. I was waited first by a lovely girl (she seemed genuinely happy), and then the girl who delivered my food 30 minutes after ordering (she surprised me with how hard she put down my plate) and the Colombian waiter (the plate for my tea was full of water that spilled over from his putting it down with so much force).

Very nice family run restaurant with delicious food.
