Chocolatería Valor — Restaurant in Santander

What an amazing place, they have many dishes along a chocolate theme, we tried the churros with a cup of chocolate to dip them in and a chocolate crepe with chocolate ice-cream. We also had coffees and a coke, they gave is a free bowl of olives too! Very friendly service, which helped with my lack of Spanish speaking skills!! The churros and doing chocolate were amazing, I previously thought it was like hot chocolate drink but it was basically melted chocolate in a cup, so delicious - and I'd have to say the same for the crepe and ice-cream, very fresh tasty crepe with lots of chocolate sauce, and thick creamy ice-cream. We could not finish the churros so they were kind enough to provide us a bag and a cup for the chocolate to take them away.

Before leaving we stopped at the chocolate counter and bought some to take home knowing they...

Desastroso.

Siendo del gremio entiendo que puntuar bajo sin haber llegado a consumir no es leal, pero el motivo de la “no consumición” está plenamente relacionado con el servicio del local; más bien el pésimo servicio. Esta fue mi experiencia:

Entro a por un brownie para llevar, ya que voy de camino al trabajo. Entro a la barra y lo decido, esta en la misma barra, es pillarlo con una servilleta pagar y listo, un trámite. En la barra no había nadie, estuve esperando 5 minutos de reloj. Se asoma un chico y se da cuenta de que hay gente esperando, ya que no estaba solo yo, también había otra señora. Sale y nos pregunta que queremos, la señora dice un cafe, yo un brownie, me pregunta incluso si para llevar y le digo que si. Se va para adentro sin atender a nadie. Otros 5 minutos. Misma historia con otro chico, se asoma, viene y pregunta, en este caso a la señora le pone su café, a mi me pregunta y le digo lo mismo que al primero, brownie para llevar. Se vuelve a meter para adentro en vez de darme el brownie que lo tenia literalmente en frente, repito, era dármelo, cobrarme y a otra cosa. En ese momento solo había un par de mesas y atendidas, por lo que no estaban desbordados. Pasan otros 5 minutos (van 15, DE RELOJ) y no sale nadie. Decido marcharme del local sin el brownie porque el cachondeo final fue ver que salía el primer chico que me “atendió” que ya estaba cambiado y se marchaba, entiendo que si era su hora lo hiciese, lo comento como referencia al tiempo que estuve esperando. Al final me marcho sin desayunar y con la sensación de que me han tomado el pelo. Por ello puntúo bajo ya que si que fui atendido, pero de tan mala manera que tuve que marcharme de manos vacías.

Esto sucedió el jueves a mediodía, a eso de las 12 y algo. No me gusta puntuar mal a la hostelería pero esta queja me gustaría que llegue a quien le tiene que llegar. He estado más veces y la calidad de los productos jamás me ha disgustado, pero sepan que este servicio fue...

I visited the Valor location in Santander (Terraza Castelar) today after many years being a loyal customer. In addition I visit Madrid and Barcelona frequently. I asked for a coffee with milk (desnatada or semi), I waiter said “we only offer full cream milk”. I find this odd. I therefore asked for hot chocolate and it was served with water on the side in a PLASTIC cup. The waiter said they have no more glasses as they can not keep up! Plastic cups during the week of the Climate Change Conference in Madrid. This I’m sure is bad management at the Santander store today and I doubt this is part of the Chocolatería...
