Restaurante La Mayor — Restaurant in Santander

As a professional chef, I believe this restaurant deserves some culinary recognition. We showed up 20 minutes before the kitchen closed, not realising and a gentleman who I was believe was the owner, didn't speak any english but was super Patient with us, he was absolutely caring towards our kids and recommended amazing dishes. We went all out and wanted to try the best the restaurant had to offer, and it fell, not even an inch short of GLORY. It was so amazing. Portion sizes were superb. The kids got hot at one point, and they set up a table for us outside and had us moved. They gave us some amazing dessert for free, and the owner's wife personally brought came to our table and talked to us about it. These lovely people didn't speak any english, but the love and care they handled us with is the most heartwaeming I had received in a very long time. They even helped call us a cab. I read the previous reviews and I went there based on them. The restaurant business is not easy and customers vary and opinions also vary too. This place is fantastic and it's run on pure passion from the top down. The owner came and greeted us when we were at table and was genuinely happy to see us in the place. Our waiter Rodrigo was just brilliant, he's a natural and served us with a smile and with a passionate commitment that is rare to find nowadays in some places. The wine selections were fabulous and not expensive. When it came time to pay the bill there was no rush to get us out. Santander you have a real jewel in the crown here as far as restaurants go. After a long walk at this beautiful city waterfront, my wife and I were looking for a restaurant to have dinner. We came across this location, which seemed to be very local and friendly restaurant.

We got a table very fast. The service was amazing, they gave us a menu for our surprise. It was very affordable and they have plenty of seafood dishes.

We order some tapas and raciones which came out pretty quickly they were fresh and delicious, Literally loved it.
