I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Restaurante Santiago, and it was, without exaggeration, one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming. The staff greeted us with a barely audible “hello” and the décor seemed like an afterthought, with mismatched furniture and dim, harsh lighting that made the entire place feel more like a run-down cafeteria than a proper restaurant.
The menu was a jumbled mess, with no clear focus or direction. I opted for the “house special,” which sounded promising, but what I got was a tasteless disaster. The food was either overcooked or undercooked, depending on the dish. The rice was soggy, the meat was rubbery, and the vegetables were so bland it was as if they had been boiled without any seasoning or care. My companion’s dish was equally tragic, with one bite prompting a look of sheer confusion – was this supposed to be edible? The portions were laughably small, and the presentation was nothing short of disastrous.
Service was painfully slow, with waitstaff that seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than actually attending to customers. As a individual with over 20 plus years of experience with food the streak was chewy and uncut able. We took the plate up to Karen I believe that was her name and she put on a horrible show in front of our table and demanded we keep our food. She also grabbed the food which...
Read moreAVOID. This place lacks quality of service. Unfortunately, the meat 🥩 was hard, tasted bad and was not cooked well. When approached the manager, she was very defensive, rude and attempted to eat a piece to demonstrate that it was ok. Pretended to get it back in the kitchen to cook it a little bit more. This was so unsanitary! When approached she was feisty, had to have the last word and played victim when her tantrum was not entertained. Totally shameful! She still charged 15 💶 euros for a POS meat. The croquetas were dip fried in old oil. And the fries 🍟 were soggy and not good. Do yourself a favor and avoid. There are amazing options besides this place with more...
Read moreWe attempted to go to the restaurant next door and were treated with hostility. We quickly decided to switch places and landed next door in this gem of a place. The food menu is quite simple, but the execution of the dishes was magnanimous. We enjoyed tapas for dinner and had six different from the menu, each one better than the other. If you stop-by, get the vieiras, you can’t go wrong with those, just make sure to get in early enough before these are gone.
The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. The experience totally turned around our dinner and we’re grateful for this.
Keep doing what...
