I am not sure what happened here. I reserved a bed back in January directly through the albergue’s website email. They wrote back and confirmed, they also requested that I confirm my arrival two days prior. I confirmed as they asked, and received a reply. When I arrived, I stated that I had a reservation, my ID was checked, paid for my bed. I was given sheets and given the explanation of the albergue. I made my bed, had just entered the bathroom to shower and the man who checked me in came knocking on the bathroom door telling me that I needed to get my bag and leave, that the albergue was full. I thought I was misunderstanding him. I told him several times that I had a reservation, and that I didn’t understand. He kept repeating that the albergue was full and that I needed to pack my bag and leave. He was telling other pilgrims that I was cheating him. I followed him back to his office and showed him the email chain with confirmation of my reservation. He finally just waved for me to go back to the albergue. Only to learn later that he continued to tell the pilgrims in the office that I had cheated him, instead of admitting to making a mistake. I have never, in multiple Camino’s, nor in all of my travels, ever been treated like I have by the man running this one. I was very disappointed as the property is...
Read moreHello pilgrims, ||||I really would like to recommend this place for your stay in Sarría. The place is very clean (clean sheets etc.) and also nice furnitured (wood, antique furniture etc.) with a big window in the sleeping room. There are not many people you have to share the sleeping room with, so that you will sleep quietly. The bathrooms were very clean. Upstairs you find a well maintained and clean kitchen and living room in the ruff truss of the house, where you can enjoy a wine or tee, if you want. You will also find washing machine and dryer. The garden is fantastic! The owner was a very warm person and we talked a lot in spanish within my stay. He knows some basic english and will try to help you, if you have any problems or questions. I highly recommend this place, if you are looking for a cosy atmosphere rather than just only a place to sleep. You will find it, just on the left side of the "camino", when you enter in the...
Read moreDid a short walk this day because my companion felt ill and wanted to take things slow. Out of the many choices in Sarria, this Albergue immediately felt right - a charming house with a sunny garden & furnished tastefully with vintage pieces.||We were able to rest, read, prepare a nice meal (supermarkets nearby). Our room had a nice old wood burning fireplace and plenty of electrical sockets. ||This place is a reflection of the the spirit and vision of its hospitalero, Manuel, who is mild-mannered, efficient and a true gentleman. He went out his way (way out) to assist us when a difficult situation arose. We have met many kind hospitalero/as during our long walk on the Camino and Manuel stands tall above the rest.||Muchas gracias, Manuel, por...
