Bar El Caminante Andaluz — Restaurant in Seville

We went a bit out of our way to dine here based on the reviews. It was OK, but far from our favorite among the 6 or so tapas spots we tried in Seville. The avocado toast was pretty good. The fried cheese roll ups were ok, but much like chain restaurant appetizers in the US. We didn’t care for the large fried roll (first photo), which contained ham that was a bit tough to chew and shredded cheese that maybe was supposed to be melted but was not. Servers were friendly....

Edito reseña un año después: las tapas son ricas y grandes, pero reservar mesa es IMPOSIBLE porque nunca atienden el teléfono. He llegado a las 14:45 (cerrando a las 16:00), pidiendo una mesa para dos personas, no íbamos a tardar más de media hora en comer (soy cliente habitual) y me han dicho a voces que ya no apuntan a más nadie en lista que hay gente esperando y que nos le da lugar. A mi particularmente me estresa que yendo una hora y media antes del cierre sea IMPOSIBLE comer aunque sea en la barra. Entiendo que estén desbordados, quizás el sitio se ha puesto demasiado de moda y no son capaces de atender esa demanda, lo bueno es que con cosas así van perdiendo gente y así tienen una cosa menos de la preocuparse. No volveré. Me han molestado sobre todo las formas, que no es la primera vez y no paso ni una más. Entiendo que estén estresados pero NO es mi culpa. Me da pena porque gran parte del personal es súper amable y profesional, pero cosas así echan para atrás.

El personal más atento y amable no puede ser, algo a valorar muy positivamente cuando vas a comer a algún sitio. La comida abundante, de calidad y a buen precio. Vine recomendado por una amiga que le encanta este sitio desde hace muchos años y sin duda repetiré. El san jacobo es una sábana (es gigante) y está riquísimo (es como para tres personas mínimo), las patatas bravas y las lagrimitas de pollo con barbacoa y miel riquísimas...

A very, very, local destination. If you prefer your food to be of good quality, but the destination to be 'no frills,' then this might just be the place for you.
