I recently dined at Can Laury Sitges, and it was an extraordinary 5-star experience from start to finish! Nestled along the picturesque Port d’Aiguadolç, this restaurant combines stunning marina views with an ambiance that’s both elegant and welcoming—a perfect balance of sophistication and Mediterranean charm. The menu is a celebration of fresh, seasonal ingredients, and every dish we tried was a testament to their mastery of seafood and Mediterranean cuisine. The Arroz Caldoso con Bogavante (lobster brothy rice) was an absolute standout—rich, fragrant, and brimming with tender lobster chunks, the rice soaked up the deep, savory seafood broth in a way that felt both indulgent and soul-warming. It’s hands-down one of the best rice dishes I’ve ever tasted, perfectly showcasing their expertise with arroces. Another highlight was the Turbot a la Parrilla (grilled turbot). This dish arrived with a golden, lightly charred exterior, yet the fish remained impossibly moist and flaky inside. Served with a drizzle of olive oil and a hint of lemon, its simplicity let the pristine quality of the fish shine through—truly a must-order for seafood lovers. The Gambas a la Plancha (grilled prawns) were equally divine—plump, juicy, and kissed with a smoky char, their natural sweetness elevated by a touch of sea salt. I couldn’t get enough of dipping the crusty bread into the garlicky juices left behind. For starters, the Chipirones a la Andaluza (Andalusian-style fried squid) were a crispy, golden delight—lightly battered, tender, and paired with a zesty aioli that added just the right kick. The Ensalada de Tomate con Ventresca (tomato salad with tuna belly) was a refreshing surprise, with ripe, juicy tomatoes layered with silky tuna, drizzled in a vibrant olive oil dressing that tied it all together. Dessert was the perfect finale—the Crema Catalana had a flawlessly caramelized sugar crust that cracked to reveal a creamy, vanilla-infused custard beneath, balancing richness with a light citrus note. Paired with a glass from their well-curated wine list, it was pure bliss. The service was attentive yet unobtrusive, with staff who clearly take pride in their craft. The setting—glass walls overlooking the swaying yachts—only enhanced the magic of the meal. Can Laury Sitges is a culinary gem that deserves every one of its 5 stars. If you’re in Sitges, don’t miss it—especially the lobster rice and grilled turbot. I’m already dreaming of my next visit!

Read moreA Karen is one descriptor that has never been applied to me but in this instance I will gladly wear this moniker. I cannot tell you how disappointing this restaurant was. My daughter and I walked for 40 minutes to get here because of the great reviews. The ambiance was quite inviting and we were both excited to eat here. Our first course were the the peppers petron. They were ok but came cool and sweated so they definitely sat for a bit before being served. For anyone reading this Google review this is where it gets interesting. Keep reading!! For our main course we ordered the seafood paella. A dish that was widely acclaimed on previous reviews. It came. Again having sat for a bit. Definitely did not come out piping hot. The only identifiable seafood in the dish were a paltry 4 prawns and mussels. There was also some indistinguishable rubber type of seafood sitting on top of the dish that I struggled to identify but to finish this review let’s call it squid. It was grotesque. The dish itself was unsalted dried out and over cooked. I have been to Spain several times and had many a paella but this beyond the pale. I politely complained that the dish was underwhelming. The response was “That’s the way it is.” I said well if that is the way it is it is not very good!
Anyway I resigned myself to the fact that I was paying €22 for this terrible dish but we had a nice bottle of wine and a nice view so we will enjoy the ambiance and the conversation.
When the bill arrived, I was shocked to see the the bill was twice as much as previously anticipated. I had been aware that there were several things on the menu which said x2 people so you knew you would be paying double but I also knew that it hadn’t been applied to this hideous and ridiculous dish.
When I began to politely question the bill it quickly became apparent that the waiter was having none of me. The staff was rude and condescending and refused to accommodate any of my outlined concerns.
So in the interest of not creating a scene and to save the evening with my daughter I reluctantly paid the bill and left. To my embarrassment and horror one of the waiters followed me out of the restaurant waving the menu and yelling at me about me not wanting to pay the price of the paella. Dear readers, he was right. I didn’t want to pay twice the advertised price for the awful paella but I did and now to be harassed by the staff was over the top and completely unnecessary. These people are unkind, the food was terrible and they have now idea how to treat their customers. I am sure if you go there in the high season the food may be good as it’s hard to screw up fresh seafood. However in the off season be prepared to eat and be treated like garbage.
They deserve less than one star...
Read moreWhile the food was truly delicious — hats off to the chef — the service was hugely disappointing and left us with a bad overall experience.
When we first approached the restaurant, my husband simply asked if they had beer on draft. Instead of answering, the waiter replied with “oh, so no dinner?” which felt unnecessarily confrontational. We clarified that we did want dinner and again asked about draft beer. After confirming they had it, he seated us at a middle table.
The next server came over and immediately asked for our order before we even had menus. I politely asked for a few minutes. A third waiter arrived, more insistent, and after I asked about the sangria and Wi-Fi, he told us we needed to order food to get the password. I said we’d start with drinks and then order food, but he pushed back, saying we had to order food first. This felt unnecessarily aggressive, especially as the restaurant was almost empty (less than one-third full) on a Saturday night.
When we first arrived, I also asked to sit at a waterfront table but was told they were “reserved.” The tables remained empty for most of the night. Later, I saw another guest (without a reservation) successfully request one of those tables after some back-and-forth, at which point the waiter simply removed the “reserved” sign and seated her there.
If you have policies, then enforce them consistently — or don’t have them at all. Unfortunately, this experience was frustrating enough that I wouldn’t return and will definitely not recommend this place to my...
