We had a FANTASTIC meal here. If you visit Sitges, visit La Xarnega for dinner or lunch. Gluten free available. We ordered beef carpaccio with rocket (arugula) and parmesan, courgette (zucchini) carpaccio with beetroot and parmesan, patatas bravas with a picnic sauce, and "entreñada" which is strips of aged beef served to the table with a searing hot grill also brought to the table. Picture how fajitas are served on a searing grill, but with the most tender, aged beef from Argentina that melts in your mouth. Menus in Spanish or English on request. The owner was very accommodating to help with our total lack of Spanish and our gluten free diner (me). There was a list of desserts and one diner had a generous portion of a delicious Spanish-recipe cheesecake. Amazing. Quiet, unassuming, and unpretentious -- the food was the best we had this entire trip. Go. Location is nearish the train station on c/ Illa de Cuba, 34 near...
Read moreMy husband and I ate our way through Sitges and I have to say this was by far the best restaurant in town. The restaurant itself is beautifully done. The outdoor patio is stunning!! It’s the colorful eclectic vibe that made us stop and look at the menu in the first place.
The food was incredible. The carne empanadas were some of the best I’ve had (my family is from the Dominican Republic so I know empanadas 😉). We also had the provolone as a started, melted cheese, should I say more? Our sangria was also delicious. The main star was the paella of course but I wish we had room for the steak dishes because they also looked divine. We obviously saved roomed for dessert… the chocolate coluant with vanilla ice cream sounded like a great way to end the night.
Would absolutely come back! Thank you Juan, the owner, que hermoso...
Read moreOff the back of an online recommendation we went to La Xarnega opposite Empwr Yoga studio, near Mercadona on Calle L’Illa de Cuba yesterday afternoon. Always good to pop somewhere new and it was perfectly cosy for this rainy late lunch (candles, Cuban music, friendly service, quirky Latin America inspired interior). As for the food, the Entraña with chimichurri sauce came with perfectly done house fries and a salted hot plate to cook it just how you like it. The meatball stew was great comfort food on a gloomy day and the empanadas went down a treat with a post-football match hungry son. A generous glass of house red was enhanced by the almost but not quite empty bottle being left on the table for good measure. Lovely people, lovely food at...
