Fabulous little bar on side street facing Hotel Atolon - if you are staying at the Hotel Atolon you are dropped off at Pepe's Bar. Pepe is a real character with a great sense of humour. He goes out of his way to accommodate guests. He spent 41 minutes to get a particular football game for myself and husband, then another family of four and a man on his own sat down because Pepe was making the effort, all whilst missing the cycling which he had been watching. He engages well with customers however his efforts reflect the customers efforts also. Numerous guests leave him football shirts and tee-shirts which he proudly wears. He has an amazing knowledge of almost any sport that you can mention. A great pint of beer €2.30, gin, large measure €2.70, add a branded tonic for €1.30, prices that can't be beaten. He doesn't do food, not even crisps, however he is more than happy for you to bring your own crisps. He is an absolute gem as is...

An old fashioned bar but certainly not old fashioned manners. Owner was hostile, angry and rude. Notwithstanding the fact that the place smelt like an ashtray, he continued his conversation on the telephone whilst I waited to order at the bar. However, when I attempted to pay, this is where his character really shone. Pepe (assuming this is his name), appeared offended that I had tried to pay by card and stated it was cash only. As this was the end of my holiday, I had spent any leftover currency given it away in tips. Pepe became angry that I didn't have cash and continued his conversation on the phone. Still upset, he began insulting me to other customers, and critiscing the fact that I had been on holiday and not supported his business, after he accurately identified that I had been a resident at the hotel next door. Read moreI had a VERY UNPLEASANT experience at this place. The manager was extremely disrespectful — not only to the workers and professionals visiting, but also to the customers. He showed clear intolerance towards the catalan language, which is co-official in Mallorca. She explained politely that she always enters establishments speaking her official language, the official Ayuntamiento (council) language, and if someone tells her RESPECTFULLY that they don’t understand, she has no problem switching to Spanish, English, or German. That has always been her approach. Still, this man treated her badly and told her to leave.
The woman remained polite at all times and kindly offered to switch to Spanish if he preferred, explaining that she speaks Catalan, Spanish, English, and German. Despite her respectful attitude, she was treated unfairly and rudely.
As a local or a visitor, one expects a basic level of respect, especially when being courteous. What happened was witnessed by several customers who were also shocked by the manager’s behavior. I will never return, and frankly, such behavior has no place in any customer-facing business.

Sehr schlechte Erfahrung in diesem Lokal. Der Geschäftsführer war äußerst respektlos – nicht nur gegenüber den Mitarbeitern und Fachleuten, sondern auch gegenüber den Gästen. Er zeigte eine klare Intoleranz gegenüber der katalanischen Sprache, die offizielle Sprache des Rathauses, die auf Mallorca eine Amtssprache ist.
Sie erklärte ihm höflich, dass sie Lokale grundsätzlich in ihrer offiziellen Sprache betritt und bei respektvollem Hinweis sofort ins Spanische, Englische oder Deutsche wechselt – das tut sie immer so. Trotzdem wurde sie schlecht behandelt und aufgefordert zu gehen.
Die Frau blieb stets höflich und bot freundlich an, auf Spanisch zu wechseln, wenn ihm das lieber sei. Sie erklärte, dass sie Katalanisch, Spanisch, Englisch und Deutsch spricht. Trotz ihres respektvollen Verhaltens wurde sie schlecht und unhöflich behandelt.
Als Einheimischer oder Tourist erwartet man einen gewissen Respekt, besonders wenn man selbst höflich auftritt. Die Situation wurde von mehreren Gästen beobachtet, die ebenso schockiert über das Verhalten des Geschäftsführers waren.
