We booked online for a family meal but didn't receive a confirmation email. We arrived at the restaurant at 18:30pm and our greeting was rather strange. We were told that it was fully booked and should have received an email saying so and told me to check my spam box. After an awkward wait, they said they could fit us in due to a cancellation.
We were then seated and told we would be served when they could get round to us as other people had a genuine booking and they were priority. We were made to feel slightly uncomfortable and it was as if they were doing us a massive favour allowing us to spend our money in there. If the other table had not had cancelled would they say to them, that they would serve them when they could ? There were 6 people in the restaurant at that time, if anything they should have been pleased that they filled a vacant table.
That being said the food was really good although I wouldn't say 5* like all other reviews are saying. The veg was plain and boiled, I seen another review saying the same and the owner responded that because of food allergies they cook it plain. The vast majority of other places will ask about allergies before taking orders, rather than cooking their food bland.
We had steak and ale pie and fillet steak, the kids had nuggets and chips. The meal was good and very hot but most places are in puerto del carmen.
There were alot of regulars eating in the restaurant, it was obviously they do very well off this. We just got the feeling there was a slight arrogance from the owners, that they were always right and we were wrong, I can see that from how they responded to other slightly negative reviews aswell.
In summary the food was good and worth a visit, the service was strange and we were made to feel...
Read moreWent to Casa Cabana this evening but this time we were very disappointed. My husband and I had ordered fillet steak, that is usually first class. As well as the steak being overcooked tonight as to our request of “medium well” ( it was clearly very well done!) the steak had an awful taste. I only tasted two bites and couldn’t eat any more. My husband confirmed that it wasn’t just me, but it did have an awful taste but he covered his in the pepper sauce and ate most of his. We applaud the very efficient waiting on staff for listening to my concerns, and the waitress went off to report my disappointment to the owner. We were not approached again to discuss what the owner had said. We were surprised to find that when the bill came, there was a reduction of our order of a pint and a half of beer. The owner has done extremely well with social distancing and the rules of wearing masks etc, and this was all explained to us at our table, but it would have been nice if the owner recognised an unhappy customer and discounted the price of the steak rather than faffing about taking some drinks off the order. We do aim to continue to dine at Casa Cabana because they usually deliver in every way possible, tonight was not one of those nights that we have...
Read moreLots of returning regulars, the staff are all great with everyone + themselves and the food is "almost too good" in that I wanted to eat more than I could handle. This is one of our top 10 restaurants in the region. First pic was my starter, a special of the day, cheese and bacon croquettes. Second pic was a main course of chicken in bacon with a "Canarian sauce" (If you've ever had Canarian potatoes with the sauce then you'll know it's difficult to describe) Third pic was the other main course of Lamb, which was by far the superior dish. Fabulous. The final pic was the bill of about €60 which is food for two with a few glasses of wine and beer. Admittedly not the cheapest, but quality costs quality money. (We usually alternate between high price one night, and cheap the next (like Mario's for Pizza, or even IKEA!) In summary if you're local and they're not fully booked, it's worth it for sure. Parking round there is awkward so not worth driving to, and if you're in the new part of town (the strip) make sure you call to book before walking...
