Restaurante Backstage Food & Drinks — Restaurant in Tías

Backstage is on Avenida el Varadero, down in the port and is a nice modern bar/cafe, with thankfully nobody outside trying to pressure you to go in. It also has the attraction of a beautiful view if you are in the right seats.

4 of us were seated and the lady gave us 2 menus, she appeared not to speak much if any English but manage to get another menu however we managed without any issue. The menu is small but appears to have something for most diners however the mains don't show what vegetables accompany them. Our server informed us about the accompaniments and also gave us a choice of the 'specials'.

We decided to order the following;

Baby Lamb shoulder x 2 with Vegetables and Canarian Potatoes (special)

Ribs - 'Angus' it was described as or Pork, my friend chose Angus with Chips (special)

Salmon Tagliatelle with a cream sauce

When our meals arrived, the Angus was a large piece of meat sitting on a rather large rib. The Baby Lamb shoulders were huge but they had given us chips instead of Canarian Potatoes. We informed the server, who after some minutes had passed and i had reminded him, came over with a dish full of them.

The Angus i am assured was very good as were the Lamb shoulders, which were big enough to feed at least 2 people each. The Salmon dish although plentiful was too salty for my friends taste.

The bill came to €86 between 4 of us but that also included a ltr White wine Sangria, a small beer and a large bottle of water.

In the main, the meals were good (apart from the over salted dish) and the teething problems would not prevent us...

Never experienced treatment& service as bad as this .. we visited this place since it opened but this time we never experienced anything like it .. we stopped off for a drink after our dinner like we always did .. little did we now the hostile experience we were about to.recieve .. we ordered the same drinks we always do... they were awful tasted watery and not right my husband went up to say he wasn't happy and was spoken to awful by an apparent manager (female ) thet brought the drinks back down literally no difference I then went up to an aggressive encounter very intimidating by multiple members of staff .. the female manager was storming around for the entire time we finished as quickly as possible asked for the bill which was given by another frosty really cold member of staff making sure that wad the feeling that was put across ... there was one really nice man serving who did apologise and said they were so stressed because they were busy during our drink We went elsewhere to a more welcome bar Such a pity .. we own businesses and I would of preferred to send this email to the owner but I couldn't find a Contact I've never in my entire life seen such bad service or customer treatment or an atmosphere like that We will never return to this place and we at one point visited almost daily and brought many friends and family Everything about this place at one point was perfect to end...

We stumbled across this restaurant towards the end of our holiday and we are so upset we didn’t discover it sooner!! It was absolutely amazing so we came back 2 days in a row as our final evening meals. The Fajitas were amazing! As were the burgers. A great variety of food on the menu so there is something for everyone, from traditional spanish dishes to more comfort foods like fish and chips. Everything was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I must also mention how lovely and welcoming the staff here are! We were greeted both nights by warm and friendly staff who were happy to have a joke around as well, which made our experience even more special! The lady who i assume runs or owns the restaurant couldn’t have been more helpful and lovely towards us. As a young couple on our first solo holiday, it was great to feel comfortable and welcomed into the restaurant. The lady gave us a suggestion for evening activities which we followed and were not disappointed! We had a great evening all thanks to her suggestion. I strongly advise going to this restaurant if your looking for great food, a friendly and trendy atmosphere as well as top service!
