We have eaten here before and had good experiences with food and service however this time was different.
We visited at the end of our 2 week holiday. I ordered the mixed grill for 1. I was asked how I wanted my meat cooked to which I said medium. The meal came and the steak, sausage, lamb and ribs were good. I then took the chicken off the skewer and ate a bit. It had a strange texture and so I looked at it and noticed part of it was pink. I checked all other bits of the chicken and the same area throughout all pieces (in the middle next to where the skewer was) was pink. It was clear to me the chicken was not fully cooked and needed another minute or 2 on the grill to ensure it was cooked through.
I didn’t make a fuss and politely and quietly pointed it out to the server when she collected the plates. The reaction was disappointing as she immediately said that it was cooked and that the meat was just pink. I’m aware that on some cuts of chicken like the thigh, meat can appear a colour not too dissimilar to pink, however this was chicken breast which when cooked is white. She then told me that she would “double check with the chef” as if she did not believe me, despite it being right there in front of us. She came back a moment later and said the chef had checked and that the meat was cooked and that they don’t like to “over cook it” and that if I didn’t want any pink bits then to ask for it cooked more than medium next time. Pretty baffling as chicken is either cooked or it’s not cooked. Medium rare/medium chicken is not a thing and is a one way ticket to possible sickness.
I wouldn’t have bothered to write a negative review had the staff put their hands up and apologised but I feel the reaction was not good enough. No apology received, nothing taken off the bill and overall a disappointing experience from what is usually good service and good food. This has put me off returning...
Read moreMy family and I had the pleasure of eating her twice during our stay in Lanzarote and also recommend this gem of a place to another couple who also said it was amazing!
I had the roasted lamb on both occasions - after our first visit, I’d been dreaming about the lamb ever since! (absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection). My 14 year old had the T bone steak at his first visit & “fish of the day”, which was sea bass off the bone (he LOVED both meals). My husband opted for T bone steak first visit and then ribeye on the second visit (both cooked exactly how he asked). My mother in law had the chicken skewers on both visits (Beautifully cooked, tender & tasty).
Having seen the many dishes leaving the kitchen last night, it’s safe to say you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything looked unreal!
Spent my birthday here last night and the staff all sang happy birthday to me. It was a good laugh and I was gifted a free flan with ice cream and a fancy firework candle. Definitely made my day more special and memorable.
The staff are incredibly friendly and warm, very attentive without being overbearing.
Easily our favourite restaurant that we visited and wouldn’t hesitate recommending My Kitchen by Julius to...
Read moreI will just get this out of the way, our service started a little slow. Not bad, but honestly about 5 tables arrived at the same time, among 3-4 waitresses. So I think they were caught on the back foot, and to their credit they handle it very well. The staff look Malay or Thai and as you walk in the aromas of bbq charcoal really wets the appetite. I wasn't sure what to expect, worried a little that the food would be spicy. Because I can't handle Thai and Malay spicy. The cuisine was all charcoal cooked and really good. The wifey went with the lamb. It was accompanied with a sweet mint sauce. Now I don't like mint sauce, but the sweetness really made it. The lamb was succulent and I would have been happy ordering it. I wanted to taste a range, so decided with a mixed grill, and was not disappointed. While the dishes properly took an extra moment to cook. It was cooked beautifully. Even the accompanying veg was tasty and left us stuffed. The only thing that I did not rate was my chorizo sausage. It wasn't spicy, and for me to say this means it was very mild. It wasn't bad just mild. Wifey and...
