Restaurante El Golfo — Restaurant in Tías

We saw the reviews for this place and were not disappointed. We didn't have a reservation but managed to get a table after about 30 mins, so we were seated at 8pm. Staff were really friendly and let us know when we were to be seated so we where happy to wait. (There appeared to be a number of regulars who passed us went straight to the bar for drinks when waiting on their tables.)

We enjoyed the freebie starters of garlic bread and croquettes. We had the fish stew, (lots of fish) and the pepper steak which along with the T-Bone appears to be very popular at this restaurant. Steak was lovely, well cooked and juicy, only 3 Canarian potatoes which felt a bit mean, but seems that this is the islands portion size. We didn't need a pudding so perhaps 3 potatoes was the right amount after all... This was a nice meal, lovely staff and...

One of the nicest restaurants in the area! Nothing fancy, just good food and a lovely and cozy atmosphere. It's family owned and the entire staff is very friendly and helpful.

We ate here twice during our stay. First time we tried the asparagus soup and the garlic soup. Both good. Then we continued with the fish with orange sauce and the steak. The fish tasted really fresh and the sauce was tasty. The steak was okay

The next visit we tried the cazuela de pescado (fish stew) which was very flavourful and full of fish and shrimp. Huge portion! We also had the tuna steak which was nicely cooked

They also offered some free starters at the beginning and shots at the end. Overall a very nice experience!

Note that it's usually very busy so you might have to book in advance or wait...

Big variety of seafood. Quality is all, but outstanding. You find better ones in town. The owner shows very less customer service orientation! One time asked, that some of my cooked mussels were still closed when serviced, she only comment that this is fully normal. A good restaurant always removes them. You must not open those. Could cause food poisoning! No warning here, nor sorry. At another time, after reserving a table and placed at the door, we asked for a table closer inside, she just told us take it or leave...We left...No service orientation, nor customer satisfaction interest....
