Restaurante La Mar Café — Restaurant in Teguise

After a week of eating local food we were bit tired by lacking of greens on Lanzarote menus so decided to try this hipster place in Famara. The place looks busy and vibrant but unfortunately the food is of poor quality so don’t get fooled by Poke bowls or salads. We ordered a strangely sweet tasting Salmon Poke, Cesar Salad and “Sweet” Potato fries. Potatoes were definitely the worst and the best I can describe the taste is ground cardboard with some raising soda... They were also white and not red like what I expected them to be. Cesar salad was just 80% croutons with some nasty ready sauce from the bottle and few bits of meat. Poke was OK but also was served with some processed sauce - it would be much better just with Soy on the side. Ah and waiting times were also insane - 20 mins to get a glass of wine and similar to pay. Go to Lucky Looser down the road if you fancy something different or travel to Teguise .. that if you’re not Vegetarian or Vegan as you might not be in much...

It’s really not a pleasure to post that. But I think it is my responsibility to do it regarding the futures clients. Unfortunately, I found a cockroach inside my plate (yes, literally inside the sauce…). I won’t describe how the experience was terribly sickening. The second bad experience after that was the reaction of the staff and the owner. To be honest it reach maybe 10% of my expectations. I won’t describe more because everything is already said. Just want to say again to the restaurant: you should assure the cleanliness of your establishment and the health safety of your clients. And you should really care. Having myself my own business in the industry, I would never post a fake review so serious but as I said previously, I truly think it is also my responsibility to explain the situation. I sincerely hope this kind of serious problem would never happen again to...

This is not the first time for me in Café la mar and definitely not the last one. I know that restaurant very well and the food is always great BUT: service is often slow.. very slow but if it's important to keep food quality on a high standard - I'm okay to wait no mobile signal inside but despite wifi it is very difficult to download menu not to mention checking something else sitting inside is a doubtful please as the echo makes difficult to understand what other person says at the other end of the table Chairs are heavy and that makes them (very) loud while moving. There is a simple solution for that which are soft pads for the chairs legs. Not sure but I think IKEA sells them also this place can be attractive inside. Right now have no taste and looks like an old government building. I believe there is a design that will make that place cosy...
