36'c and I'm sat eating fish n chips!!!! WTH!!!...

Let me explain... This wasn't our first choice, we were going to a highly reviewed grill restaurant in Benitachell, unfortunately not checking before we left, meant that we pulled up to find it closed🥴 On a whim my wife suggested Fishy fishy in Moriara... Having visited once before a few years ago, I just about remembered a pleasant meal under a canopy... Plenty of parking saw us pull up just outside in a blue zone space... (Sensible price unlike the UK) Greeted with a smile we were offered various tables and took a suggestion outside under a sun shade. Not rushed at all...just highly organised, our drinks and food were served up within 5 mins presenting differing portion sizes( I went large!!) of classic beer battered fish n chips(twice fried! 😉). The batter was 'melt in the mouth' light and our choice of haddock was as fresh as you could hope for! White, flakey and oh sooo tasty!! Proper chips! all served with a wedge of lemon and a pot of tartar sauce!! You really couldn't ask for more. P.S. that's a 13" dinner plate on the photo!!

Our waitress was great! Personable and attentive without being over bearing. Needless to say... We didn't plate up any dinner...

The staff were lovely and helpful. The cod and chips my husband had was very good. I chose scampi (tasty and well presented) as I don't consume alcohol and it is beer batter on the fish, very good batter my husband said.

We have, several times, nearly eaten there before, in the daytime, generally we have our little dog with us though, which would mean eating outside. Fine, apart from the smokers, so each time we have gone elsewhere.

This visit was early evening and chilly and our dog was able to stay in our vehicle. So we sat in, very pleasant, though as it got busier with lots of orders the smell of cooking was just becoming too much (though great to see the care that is taken) I was glad to have finished and leave.

So, would I go there again? Maybe, it would be a definate if it was non smoking outside. This of course goes for all restaurants and bars. Sometimes I realise it just would not work (it being such an addiction) but I think for a quick meal, generally just one course or two, most smokers should be able to cope and desist from spoiling other peoples meals. Perhaps a trial in a family friendly place such as Fishy Fishy...

I was disappointed to find my expectations weren't matched to the experience. Fish batter was excellent but fish seemed to be out of a freezer. Mushy peas were too hard. Chips were a little soggy. In my opinion they could do better. I travelled miles on a recommendation. But I was totally disappointed.

I have read the response and I must reply. I expect my meal to be the best it can be and not to have to complain. The responsibility for the meal lies not with the purchaser but with the person presenting the meal. Is it acceptable to present a meal and to expect the person to be satisfied. I believe so. It is not for the purchaser to ask for numerous options or replacements when the initial product was lacking. It is the responsibility of the producer to present a quality product. My complaint was that the presented meal was not of a standard I had been expecting. It is the producers responsibility to ensure the product is of the best standard they can produce, first time of asking. Not to ask for a second chance. First impressions count. Would my replacement from the same producer have been so much different? If so why not first...

¡Gracias!

Lovely fried fish! As a guilty pleasure and with a husband who isn't 'fish minded' I go 2 or 3 times a year and only take the goujons. They taste incredibly good. You're sure the oil the fish is fried in, is always fresh as you can taste and smell. The establishment itself isn't very cosy or restaurant-ish but that perfectly fits for me to what I get: a quick, pure, well fried piece of fish.
