I heard earlier in the year that Kristian was starting a new venture at Kosta D'oro, I was keen to experience it for myself during my visit in August, however online reviews suggested that it was best to avoid. Everyone talked about it losing the quality that we had all come to love at Kosta! and that staff were not attentive or even bothered, which is the complete opposite of what we have come to know from Kosta!. So I was gutted at the possibility of not seeing Kristian or eating at my favourite restaurant. But when I visited in August we heard he was reopening Kostas! And so we jumped at the opportunity to book in. It was fully booked but they made an exception for us. I can safely say that Kristian and the team are back to their best, the food was divine and the service and entire dining experience impeccable, just as it has been for the last several years. Anita was very attentive and Kristian was back to his wonderful self if not a little flustered in making it perfect for everyone. Kristian is one of the best restaurateurs I have ever met. He just gets the dining experience and I am pleased to say, that under his control, Kostas is back to its best. I can only imagine that he wasn't able to do things as he wanted at Kosta D'oro because if you let this man do what he is best at, without restriction, he will always succeed. The best in the business and welcome back Kostas...
Read moreWith an abundance of restaurants in the close proximity, Kosta cetainly stands out. Kristian, Stuart and the entire brigade stand for hospitality, a good eye for detail, pleasure and last but not least good food. We enjoyed a fabulous carpaccio, nicely fried camenbert with some cranberry and a caprese salad, all generously presented in a tasteful way, together with a nice local Rosé.
A T-bone, a brilliantly grilled filet mignon and salmon with an orange sauce all hit the mark.
Deserts of mandarin sorbet and crepes Suzette flambee, finished with espresso (nespresso!), a small chocolate and a limoncello put the crown on a lovely evening. Grazie mille Kristian!
The eye for detail proved in warm bread rolls already cut, lovely aioli, definitely not of a super market grade, beautifully smooth olive oil and course salt, to start with.
The staff were very attentive, unobtrusive and aware of service.
As for general impression: elegant, well lit dining room, tables with crisp linen, various table settings and sufficient privacy.
Pricing was the absolute surprise of the evening! The quality and ambiance certainly put my mindset in the €200 range, while the final bill stopped at €135.
In all a lovely experience and one to repeat.
Thanks again Kristian.

Read moreThis restaurant offers a very good dining experience, with lovely food, presented very well. Why a 3 star review? My wife had the steak and it was lovely. I took a house specialty the freshly made pasta cooked at the table in the big parmigian cheese wheel. Two things were just a bit disappointing, the flavor was overwhelming sweet….. that I didn’t see coming. (I eat this dish regularly elsewhere). I can’t place what that was, maybe too much too sweet a liquor they use to inflame it? Or was the truffle very sweet? Not what you expect a sweet spaghetti. Not what I was hoping for anyway. Bit disappointing also that I took the most complete version with parmigiana, truffle and scallops and I literally got one scallop. That really was too little. (It is a 28 E dish). It was very well made btw, great flavors. Anyway, we will come back and try more dishes because we certainly...
