We visited Caliu this week and had a really lovely experience.
My partner is vegan and we were unsure whether they would be able to accommodate his dietary preferences. At the suggestion of my parents (who are regular visitors to Caliu) we dropped in one evening before service began to see if they could provide any vegan options. Happily, the owner was more than willing to help and showed us a menu with multiple vegan/veggie options they are working on as there has been an increase in customers requesting plant-based options recently.
So, we booked in for the following night and had a delicious meal which accommodated all the preferences of our group of 4. The environment was very calm and relaxed and the service was attentive while also allowing time to digest your food and chat between courses. My partner really enjoyed his greek salad with tofu and my envoltini stuffed with asparagus and pork was delicious.
We will definitely be back and are very thankful to the owner and staff who provided a thoroughly...
Read moreThis place was a little hard to find since it doesn't show up on maps unless you search the name and the restaurant itself is a little lowkey with no big sign or anything. The atmosphere here was lovely, we were seated in a little couryard with a very limited amount of tables. The first course was delicious, however I was quite disappointed with the main course, the meat was very dry and the sides were nothing special except for the green pepper sauce which was delicious. I had the chocolate coulant for dessert which tasted good but it was not melted in the middle, also disappointing. The waiting time for the first and main course was around 30 minutes which is absolutely fine for a place like this, I did not get the feeling of being "forgotten" about. The service was good even though they were understaffed this evening. I'm convinced this is a great place but I was a bit unlucky with my experience. I'd give my visit a 2,5/5 but I am willing to come back to give it a...
Read moreWe arrived and sat down, and waited, and waited and waited. Then had to go inside and ask for a wine list. There was 2 people working there, i assume they had a chef also, but its possible the man serving was also the chef, we saw him making salad. We continued waiting but the waiter seemed more concerned with writing something on paper inside for about 10 - 15 minutes. We would expect to have ordered the wine after 5 minutes, and looking around other tables it seemed no one was was eating. Based on the 20 minutes we had waited without even being offered menues and had to ask for them that it was going to be a long wait. So we walked out. Upon leaving we where asked whats going on, we told him we had been waiting for a long time and was'nt even offered a drink. To which he replied we are busy in quite an abrupt manner. A burger costs 24€ there which im not too sure how that is justified, some of the steaks are cheaper and you can have a chicken leg for 9€...
