Tela Marinera Chiringuito — Restaurant in Torremolinos

We were really excited to visit this beach bar after reading all the glowing reviews and seeing how beautiful the venue looked, but sadly our experience was really disappointing. The service staff were lovely and attentive but the food was the biggest letdown. Our order was brought out wrong twice and when the correct dishes finally arrived the chicken was completely undercooked, pink inside and had to be sent back twice. The rest of the food was very average at best; while the presentation looked good, the taste didn’t match and most of our dishes were left uneaten. For a bill of €196 we expected much better quality. To make matters worse, there was a dog at the table behind us that was repeatedly being sick throughout the evening. While I understand this isn’t directly the restaurant’s fault, after the third time you’d expect staff to step in and ask the owners to remove the dog out of respect for other diners. How shall I begin… I had so high expectations. I was looking forward to try this new restaurant in months but got disappointed so heavily. We were ordering the mango avocado salad with gambas as an entree. I mean, it looked fine, but the taste was fade. It was just avocado and mango squashed into a form. No spices no nothing. The gambas were tasting like gum. Dry, hard, not fresh and no sea taste. As the main course I had the pork iberico. Known for its exquisite juicy taste. Well mine wasn’t. First everything came cold. Then I told the service and they exchanged it. Well actually I don’t know if it got exchanged it was more like heated up for a second time which destroyed the meat and made it chewy and dry. The yuca was hard and over fried too that you couldn’t eat the dish without noise. It was too crunchy. Also the arrangement was kind of an empty plate for a really not cheap dish. Overrated place with misguiding reviews! We ordered grilled scallops (not on the menu but the waiter confirmed it's available), national squid on skewer with slow-cooked cherry tomatoes in pesto and Tela Marinera salad for starters plus rosada (some kind of fish) with veggie stew as a main dish. We've got grilled shrimps instead of scallops and deep-fried squid rings with no side dish instead of that national squid with slow-cooked cherry tomatoes in pesto. Rosada was overcooked and only served after our reminders 1.5 hours later. Salad was okay but as others say here, with only few chunks of mango and avocado. All that for about 100€. Although we spoke Spanish, the impression was the guys did not understand a word of what we were saying. Switching to English didn't help.
