For a town of its size, Torrevieja has few Indian restaurants. The Bombay Palace, situated near the Habaneras/Carrefour shopping complex, is happily a sterling example of Indian food and hospitality done right.
We chose the 'Happy Menu', which is perfect for two people; poppadoms and soups to start, then a large platter which combines a selection of different meat dishes, on a bed of salad. The meal was tasty, filling and authentic. To conclude there are few dessert options, or one can choose coffee with milk. As a final courtesy before you depart, you can enjoy a glass of brandy.
The ambiance is good; vibrant, colorful decor and pictures reflecting India's delightful culture. A television in the corner showcases a series of entertaining musical dance numbers from famous Bollywood classics. The service was prompt, and the polite waiter was keen to know if we enjoyed the selection. Additionally, the toilets were impeccably clean and well-presented.

Read moreWhat can I say? It's all a win, win here! They have a huge variety of dishes, including vegan and vegetarian friendly ones with chickpeas or lentils for mains and vegetable samosas, onion bhajis etc for starters. My personal favourites include mango lassi drink and best of GULAB JAMUN dessert😍, which isn't all that common here sadly. 😭 From outside on the street, it may not look like much, but rest assured as inside is nice and cosy; the balance of photographs of India is just right, and the music isn't too loud too thereby creating a lovely Indian atmosphere perfect for dining with friends, partners and families. And if for whatever reason you choose to sit outside on the terrace during the wintertime with your dog for instance, I assure you, you won't get cold, as its covered under the tent. And finally, the staff are...
Read moreOrdered food etc. They advertise a menu - any starter, any main, rice or naan, half bottle of wine and dessert (no restrictions on sign for times available or exclusions) for 18.00€ per person.
We had this plus extras (expecting to pay for extra items, including bottle of diet coke, extra rice / naan)- server mentioned during ordering that item(s) was on the menu- total bill was over 110euro! (We had been charged for each item individually) We didn´t notice at the time, when queried they said we didn´t ask for the menu?! Would avoid at all costs.
We NEVER give a bad review, but find this is possibly the worse experience locally in all the time we have been filming for over 3 years, which is a real shame- and we did try to rectify the situation the next day.
Not a...
