On February 14th, we visited Sunset Beach for a much-anticipated tasting menu experience, complete with the recommended wine pairing. Unfortunately, our evening did not live up to expectations, falling short in both service and overall execution. Arrival & Ambiance Upon arrival, the seating process felt disorganized, and we waited longer than expected for our table. We were ultimately placed near a drafty window door that guests frequently used to go outside and smoke—something the staff showed little concern for, leaving us to close it ourselves repeatedly. Such an oversight in guest comfort is surprising for a restaurant of this caliber. Service & Pairing Experience One of the most disappointing aspects of the evening was the lack of synchronization between food and wine service. Courses arrived in an unpredictable order, and the wine pairings did not follow suit, disrupting the harmony that such an experience should provide. When wine was poured, portions were noticeably small, despite having paid for a premium pairing. The selection of wines itself also felt underwhelming, lacking the depth and quality one would expect. Additionally, we were surprised to find that even still water came at an extra charge—a detail that felt particularly unjustified given the already substantial cost of the meal. Cuisine & Value The food itself was well-executed in terms of flavor but fell short in portion size and accompanying elements. For a tasting menu at this price point, one expects a more generous and balanced composition. The lack of generosity extended beyond the food—something that ultimately detracted from the overall dining experience. Final Thoughts Having dined at Sunset Beach on multiple occasions, we were left questioning what had changed. The stark contrast in quality from previous visits was disappointing. Both service and the meticulous attention to detail that should define a high-level dining experience were lacking. While the restaurant has delivered excellence in the past, our recent visit failed to justify the price tag. Unfortunately, until improvements are made, we find it difficult to recommend this establishment as a premium dining...
Read moreA once in a lifetime experience, we came for the lobster dinner. The terass was very hot and the tables cramped, views amazing and very romantic
-First course a lobster salad was good and arrived fast. If something the beautiful and well prepared lobster was on top of a very basic and buffet style salad.
-Second course a lobster soup/bisque, it took 25 minutes to take our previous plates and 5 minutes more for the second plate of food. My wifes soup was tasty and had a well balanced flavour profile. My soup had a very tomato forward taste. When i gave the staff feedback the waiter/owner said that it was the same soup and that it can not be different in a very agressive tone. Safe to say this was a shoking response.
-Main course oven prepared lobster. I had a lobster with butter and herbs, my wife had it with a cream based sauce. My portion was very good, my wifes lobster was over coocked. When saying this the waiter did not care.
When we got the bill we wanted to discuss a discount on part of the unconsistent quality. The waiter/lwner form before got mad and stated that, it took long for us to get the second course beacuse we went for a cigarette, we went for the cigarette after 10 minutes of waiting and waited 15 minutes more. Then the owner agressivly proceeded to proclaim that we are just complaining beacuse we dont like paying. This lead to a very heated discussion where i multiple times said that we are simply asking for a discount. It ended with the owner/waiter implying that we are too poor to pay and that is the reason for our complaints. Then said that we should leave and that theyhave our details. Based on this experience i would not recommend this...
