Bar Ruta al Sur — Restaurant in Torrevieja

Today we came to this cafe for breakfast with our child. We arrived a bit early, about 10 minutes before opening. We decided to quietly sit outside on the terrace and wait until we could order. Almost immediately, one of the waiters (a man who was cleaning) started expressing his annoyance, repeatedly telling us that they were still closed—even though we were not disturbing him at all. We were just sitting quietly at the table, enjoying the sea view and not bothering anyone. After a couple of minutes, the same staff member came over and very aggressively pushed the remaining chairs into our table, pointedly emphasizing that they were “still closed” (even though there were only 5 minutes left until opening). This attitude from the staff was honestly shocking, and it really scared our child. It was a very unpleasant experience—it feels like guests are not welcome here, even if you just want to wait quietly at a table before opening and are not interfering with the cleaning or service. Unfortunately, after such service, we have no desire to come back or recommend this...

I’m very surprised this place has such a high rating from many reviewers. We are staying in Torrevieja for two months dining out often and this has been one of the worst restaurant experiences so far.

The service was poor: the waitress didn’t know the answers to simple questions about the menu (e.g. whether the plate has a side dish), our drinks were not served properly and we received a different wine than we’ve ordered. Moreover, the restaurant didn’t have 1/3 of the beers listed in the menu.

The fries were poorly fried and the Wok was prepared with Italian noodles (fittucini) and had a poor and oily taste.

Overall the dishes were rather expensive. A small starter costed 9,50€ and didn’t have a good quality.

I would recommend this place for the drinks, as it has a good sea view, but I believe that the fact it has received four stars, as a restaurant – is...

La primera noche que fuimos aparentemente estaba bien, es cierto que estuvimos como 40 minutos esperando que nos atendieran y eso que la terraza estaba prácticamente vacía. Los camareros nos miraron varias veces al pasar, pero no mostraban ningún interés en tomarnos nota. Finalmente, cuando nos atendieron, los cócteles que nos sirvieron estaban buenos, pero el servicio dejó bastante que desear. Además, esa noche, había un grupo de 3 personas, los cuales tenían un perro, el cual estaba suelto paseando por los pies y las mesas de los clientes, esto lejos de ser algo agradable, es bastante incómodo. Pues los camareros en vez de pedir a los dueños del perro que lo atasen para no molestar a la clientela, estaban jugando con él.

Volvimos una segunda noche, detonante para no volver al bar. De nuevo, tardaron bastante en servirnos, por no hablar de la poca simpatía (por no decir inexistente) de dos de los camareros que en un primer momento nos tomaron nota. Bien, pedimos un cocktail y un combinado, pues para nuestra sorpresa al recibir la cuenta estaba desglosada de la siguiente manera: Ron X -----7€ Coca cola ----- 2.50€ Cocktail----6.90€ Pensamos al verlo, que había sido una confusión ya que jamás nos habían desglosado una cuenta de esa manera, así le preguntamos al camarero si había sido un error ya que solo habíamos tomado dos consumiciones y su respuesta fue: "¿Has tomado un gin-tonic? Está bien" A lo que yo respondí: "no, ron con coca-cola" y él dijo: "pues eso, está bien, coca-cola". De nuevo, ninguna simpatía ni amabilidad hacia el cliente, de hecho, más bien soberbia y prepotencia como si estuviéramos preguntando una locura. Menos mal que no pedimos un montadito o una tortilla de patata porque posiblemente me habrían desglosado la cuenta cobrándome la cebolla, las patatas, los huevos, el aceite...

Me pareció vergonzoso, unido al trato de los camareros que dejó bastante que desear, no doy 0 estrellas porque...
