El Pirata - Gastrobar — Restaurant in Torroella de Montgrí

Was interested to see the latest changes at El Pirata as last year they had new owners and had a significantly smaller menu. This time round things like croquettes and paella we're back on the menu (and were the star attractions a few years back). Unfortunately, the paella given to us which was for 2 people was significantly smaller than that given for 1 person almost anywhere else in L'estartit. It was also pretty bland. Because we were still hungry we ordered some croquettes but after 40 mins these never arrived and we asked for the bill - which included the cost of the croquettes!

In two years La Pirata has gone from having the best food and value in town to being too expensive for the quality....

only thing decent is the prices, very cheap. however the fideua was greasy and too salty, the seafood in it wasn’t fresh either. the carbonara tasted of just cream and a hint of cheese. service was slow, and when served the fideua they portioned half onto a plate and left the remaining food in a pan on a different table to go cold, with flies landing on it. looks like a decent bar, but not so much a decent restaurant...

Restaurante en zona turística, tanto el personal como el servicio fue muy muy bien, llegamos ( con reserva hecha, importante!!) sobre la 1 PM nos atendieron muy bien, realmente el personal es súper amable y atento. ( a alguno se le nota que es de temporada, pero para nada lo considero )

El local superbien cuidado y ambientado, tal como dice el nombre, en el tema pirata, un poco sobrecargado para mi gusto, insisto, es mi gusto jeje.

Tema comida, nos pedimos 2 pizzas y unas croquetas de jamón, con la bebida llegaron también una pequeña ración de bravas a modo cortesía, estas, estaban un poco frías, aunque la salsa si que era brava! El tema croquetas, aquí si que mal. Aparte de que en la carta la ración era de 8 y a nosotros nos llegaron 7.. Llegaron frías y el sabor, realmente no era nada espectacular, del montón. Las pizzas!! Massa superfina, crujiente y buena, además el pizzero está justo a la entrada del local así que se puede ver como las hace al momento! Aunque la calidad de algunos ingredientes eran normalillos, el conjunto era muy correcto.

En resumen, el tema de la comida se vió un poco ofuscado por las croquetas.

Habrá que volver para...
