Restaurant Rembrandt — Restaurant in Torroella de Montgrí

I think the differing reviews here back up our experience and one in particular referring to the food as 50/50. We have been here a few times over the years but never really feel compelled to visit each time we're in Estartit. Not sure if it's a translation thing but when ordering a king prawn starter with avocado we expected large prawns not shrimps, especially when the starter was dearer than the main. We returned the starters, although were told the prawns shrink when cooked! Understood, but not by 75%! Then ordered the schnitzel with onion and lemon (the lemon was just garnish btw) which was ok, have had better. House white was good and decor and veranda are great, so have rated 3 stars and to their credit they did not charge for the uneaten starters and waiter was accomodating. Would we return? Not sure...... Would also get rid of the 'newspaper' menu, it's like trying to read a broad sheet at the table. Gimmick is...

This restaurant was very rude from the start , felt unwelcome and belittled by the older lady. The service was very fast but unfortunately this is inevitable when using a microwave as a kitchen . The food was absolutely terrible , the mussels were gritty , sour and lack of any flavour . The burger was harder to shew than leather and contained more plastic than barbie . Not only to mention the food , when I went to complain about my dissatisfaction in our meal , I was belittled by not only the owner/“chef” but also the waitressing staff. He accused me of not having the funds to pay for our meals purely down to our age and not his awful cooking skills . If you enjoy the frozen section at your local pet store this is the restaurant for you . Safe to say that we won’t be coming again and I wouldn’t recommended that...

Service was awful! Asked to be seated for a small table without a reservation. Was told by a very rude waitress "No". Did not explain that we needed to pre-book or that the kitchen was closed just "NO". We were eventually seated and were made feel very unwelcome. Felt like we were treated poorly as English speakers as the older waitress conversed with other tables in other languages and seemed avoided our table. Staff were very rude, unhappy and abrupt. Food was not good; cold, dry and flavourless. Older waitress hovered around the table waiting to take our money after we finished eating. Would not recommend and will not...
